2007 G35 Test Drive

So they compared the new G35 to its competitor's cheapest model (excluding the TL)?
I have no doubt that it will be a fantastic car but give me a break. Testing it against the IS350, 330i, and A4 3.2 would give a much better representation of how good the car is than this comparison.
I thought it was interesting that the poster said that the info sheet had the G35 (that was tested) at 306hp. If that's the case then way to go out on that limb Infiniti!!!

Quoted from another member
"Agreed, it would have been nice to see them compaire against the beefier engines of the rivals.... but what i think is so key about the test is that the G he was testing probably was the same price as the competitors with the smaller engines... thats where the value proposition comes in with the G."

Current G35 Base: $31,850
IS250 Base: $30,580
IS350 Base: $36,030
325i Base: $30,900
330i Base: $36,600
A4 2.0 Base: $28,240
A4 3.2 Base: $34,490
TL: $33,325
All I am saying is that I agree with Infiniti's strategy if they can keep the base price of the new model around $34,000-$35,000. If the base goes over $35,000, then I think this whole value strategy just went out the window.

^ Can't believe an A4 2.0T can be had at such a great price brand new.
Can't wait to see some reviews for the new G. I smell a matchup - the 335i vs. the G35. Infiniti's pricing would also play a key role. Like cob said, keep the base below 35k and all is good. Loaded, that thing should be not much more than 40k-41k. That would make it a hell of a compelling buy.

I have a G35x, i dont know how people can even say compare the G with the 330 or V6 verision of A4. Those are easily 5-7k more expensive. I had a 3.2CL before, and I love the TL, but it just couldn't compare to the G, and the 325 and 2.0T A4. I dont even want to talk about them. Infiniti is really doing the right thing. Now if Acura can have a rwd or awd version of TL. That would be a tough choice.

Nissan/Infiniti definitely learned from their mistake and I am glad they made the new G alot sexier on the outside and more upscale inside. Acura better start leaking the 2007 TL and the rumored TSX coupe soon or they gonna be in trouble. Toyota/Lexus is having a GREAT year with all the new models. Infiniti will likely to follow with the new G. Acura? hmm....
