hey ...so I don't know the owner but I know the car. The guy just bought a brand new CGP (if thats the same color for the TL) TL Type-S and the thing looks sweet. He usually parked it right out front in practically the first spot ...but sometimes never even drove it in.

anyway, turns out someone stole it!! They drove off with the alarm going off. Now, I can understand being able to drive off by bypassing the factory alarm ...but what about the immobilizier?

I don't understand how a new 2007 car can be stolen.

My original assumption is that he left a spare key (valet maybe) in the car somewhere. it was brand new (still had temp plates) and I do know some car thieves that particularly go after that for reason being there's probably a spare key in the car.

Anyone hear of acuras getting robbed? I'm just a little nervous now being it was where i park my car everyday.

 

Any car can be stolen if someone really wants it. Why would an Acura be immune? Of course, some models are the more popular choice among thieves, and some are easier to grab than others.....

 

Wow, that really sucks. Brand new, too. Man, I'd be so upset.

Some dealerships give you little metal tags with 5-6 numbers identifying the which key is needed to make a copy of your car keys...

If you had that little metal tag on your keychain, the numbers on it would be all a theif would need to make a copy of your keys. I don't remember my TL having the little metal tags, but my lancer did and I was not aware of this until I took her in for the first service.

 

If they drove off with it while the alarm going off I'm going to assume that they grabbed the valet key. It will start the car but will not disabled the alarm.

Maybe he never made his payment and the repo man got it...
