2006 Infinit M45 or Lexus GS430?
Just curious to see some opinions. Both have v-8s but a mechanic friend of mine said that toyotas/lexus get really bad gas milage compared to nissan. What do you guys feel as far as a better all around vehicle? Sporty feel, better gas milage and best built and reliabilty. TIA guys.

This is an easy choice, drivers car M45, Luxury car GS430 - yes the GS is quick, but its very detached from the road. Both are great cars, there is no wrong choice, it depends if you are a spirited driver or merely want a sophisticated luxury cruiser.

Not that fond of the M45 rear myself (looks too blocky.. and I didnt like the old gen G rear either which was similar to the M's...) but I'd probably still go with the M based on looks. (not too much a fan of the GS's styling).

I'd go with the M45...but that's just me. After all you have to decide...go drive both and see which one suits you better.
IMO, there really isn't a wrong choice in cars...both are quality and whichever you buy you'll be happy with.

If you're at all concerned with gas mileage, you're going to be disappointed with both. Other than that, I don't think you could go wrong with either as far as build and reliability is concerned.
But, if the sporty feel is the deciding factor, get the M45.
Both really are great cars.

I don't know about the GS, but gas mileage in the M45 downright SUCKS!
When I lived out of town, 50/50 city/highway driving: avg. 16mpg
When I moved into town, 80/20 city/highway driving: avg. 13mpg
Highway average on 20+ mile trips: 19mpg (after resetting the counter before getting on freeway).
I know midsize SUVs that get better gas mileage.
Would I get this car again if I had to do it over...Yup!
As for quality/reliability problems, absolutely nothing wrong yet (over 2 years now).

i would imagine that if you're able to spend up to $50k for an M or GS, gas mileage shouldn't be that much of a concern.
other than the inconvenience of having to fill up more frequently and unless you're green, why worry so much about gas $? if you can't afford the gas, why by the car?

M45
My bro has a GS300AWD ... I don't like the shape, nor do I like how it feels when he drives. (Maybe because he's a crappy driver?) I've driven it short distances. Feels very solid, very quiet, but as many others have said already -- very detached to the road.
I am inclined to believe the M45 is a much more competent driver. And I do like the looks (interior + exterior) more than the GS.
