The MSRP on the navi is $2k so I could have probably gotten one for $27k plus taxes and tags.

Still my point is, if I were shopping for a brand new car and I had the chance at a '06 TSX 6MT w/Navi for $27K or a '06 Honda Civic Si w/Navi for $24K the decision would be a no brainer. Pay the extra $3K for the TSX.

I guess it's just the name "Civic" and the history behind it (i.e., cheap) that would make it hard for me to stroke a check to Honda for $24,000 for a Civic.

Two different cars for two different things though.

Tsx is a great small luxury sedan.
Civic Si is a Coupe with a racing background. Smaller, lighter, faster.

Id get the Si, and take to AutoX.

Also, with the Si coming in Dec and being highly anticipated...no deals to made for awhile.

I love the Si, but like you said before I can't see myself buying another "low-torque" FWD car unless it was a daily driver with another dedicated car for fun/track.

I agree with Steve. It's a great car but I would find something else for mid-$20K

Why wait till '06 when it's released? Just go get an '06 RSX-S that's already released. The two cars will drive nearly exactly the same and the RSX-S is cheaper

Think the only things I would have wanted differnet are less porky and the 2.4l engine with 200hp - rather have the torque than the revs...hopefully the car won't demand a premium after the initial demand wears off, pick one up for 19k.

The K20 in the Si will have a ton more potential than the K24 in the TSX.

I can't wait to see what tuners do to this car.

I absolutely LOVE the K-Series motor. For a 4-cyl it just doesn't get any better anywhere in production motors. Best production 4-cyl motor ever made.

Used TSX

Honestly I don't think I will buy a brand new car ever. The hit you take is so ridiculous it's nearly impossible to break even.

New civic has new underpinnings.....really makes a difference. I swear. And the RSX-S doesnt have navi... And I love the interior of the new civic.

I mean im not arguing with anyone. just stating personal prefercences.

Oh if money wasn't an option I'd probably pick the new Si over the RSX but the money difference would lead me to be cautious.

Plus you get a better warranty with the RSX and better service perks being that it's a "luxury brand" (loaner cars, etc)

I'm really just speaking for stock enjoyment, if I was planning to mod a car to be fast, I don't think I would consider the Si.

THAT depends on the dealer, since Honda doesnt regulate like lexus does.

But I will admit it will be sad to see my acura go when i sell it sometime this month....glendale acura has been the BEST acura service place ive ever dealt with.

But of course I have my girlfriends father for my pathfinder.....discount city

I don't get you guys? Do you get that excited over new stuff? An Accord V6 6mt is simply faster than an Si and lightly modded hits 14.0. All for the same price as said $24k Civic. It has more utility and space than the Civic and with 17s and an OEM kit just looks plain sexy. How many of you actually auto-x to justify getting Si? Not to mention the torque makes everyday driving less of a chore. Not arguing, just curious.

^ The Si will handle great just like the RSX. While the Accord drives like the larger car that it is.

And from a tuner standpoint the Si has a ton of potential whereas the Accord is meh

Well, I do autoX. And its better car for it then my Acura thats for sure. Which Is why I havent autoxed in almost a year...that and money/time haven't been permisable.

Its a better looking car then the accord. I dont need the utility because i have a truck for it. The smaller size = better handling, the newer engines are more torquey then the older ones...still not super great on low end, but not bad either.

Because I now I have a truck for utility, it opens the field as to what I can have for a toy. And after I sell my Acura, hopefully in the next month, I'll wait a year and see where I am finacially. But I really like the new civic.

And of course...that is why there a so many different cars out there. People can get what they want. I'm in love with other small cars in the price range. Pontiac Solstice being one of them. So, who knows. I'm just talking out of excitement right now, cause i never expected to be that impressed by a civic.

If Comptech releases a supercharger for the Accord, the Civic will need tons of mods to compete. The Accord would hit 12s easily, considering slower 6th gen (98-02) are hitting mid 13s.

The new Miata or Solstice might be a better auto X car anyways. Not to mention they're cheaper and just as fast. The Civic will probably have better aftermarket of course. Great to have too many choices.

12s easy?! LOL. None of the CL-S's are hitting 12s.

My logic was based on that 6th gens were shaving off 3 seconds off their stock times that I didn't see why 7th gens could not. I could've sworn allmotor hit 12s while supercharged but he might've been turboed.

Regardless an Si would need a lot to hang with a s/c 7th gen.

And a Civic will still outhandle an accord.

Its not always about 1/4 mile times.

And yes a miata or solstice would be better for autoX overall. But they will also be higher to insure and less safe. So, a civic becomes good in that regards also.

And in a city like LA, A civic is easier to manuever in traffic then an accord.

The Si would need a supercharger from Comptech or Jackson Racing and bolt ons. The weight difference would offset the difference in torque between the two motors. The K-Series LOVES boost.

If you're autoXing. When do you really take your car to the limits when on the road.

And yes a miata or solstice would be better for autoX overall. But they will also be higher to insure and less safe. So, a civic becomes good in that regards also.

You're the one who considered them. Didn't know insurance was a factor for you.

Well stock vs stock we're talking mid 14's for the Accord and low 15's for the Si (per R&T). I doubt the K would make up that 1/2 second but we'll see.

My brother's friend is placed on the waiting list. The dealership gave an approximation of 22k-25k.

We're getting away from my point btw. The Civic no doubt is a great car. But it's not a bargain at all at $24k vs the faster and larger Accord and others mentioned like the WRX, SRT4, RSX-S, etc. If you want to modify the car you're killing your warranty and it's best to compare stock vs stock instead of what you can do. Yes in some cases like Sarlacc, you don't need utility if you have 2 cars, but most of us have one car for themselves.

Here is where we we disagree. I find it to be a great bargain. None of the other cars mentioned have Navi, among some of the other options found on the civic for that price.

I probably would NOT modify the car. And I like the looks/interior vs. the other cars listed.

This is a subjective issue. I really like the new civic, and think the Si will be a great car at the price offered.

You think differently, great. This "debate" is getting retarded.

I agree. The Civic suits your needs even though your use is in the minority of most buyers (AutoX).

Thought the starting price for the SI was ~$19,500. Add navigation $22k, extra options like fogs, body kit, summer tires, etc are the only things that would make this car 24k imo...

I thought I had in automotive news the civic with navi would be 24k.

Even if its 22k w/ navi, which is even better, then add another $2k for registration...in cali at least.
