I had a '96 legacy for a while and really liked it but it didn't have enough power. When I look for my next car, I will seriously consider the new legacy

First thing that comes to mind when I hear last-gen Legacy is dykes.

The new one looks pretty cool... if only they'd bring the STi version here. That would be the one. =)

I think it's overpriced and underpowered. Get the 250 hp Legacy.

I like it very much, one of the cars I expect the most. If you are a car enthusiast, 2.5GT should be a better choice.

Hopefully the new B4...er...2.5GT will be the pleasant surprise that the Forrester XT is. (read: upper 13 second ETs)

if this car drives as well as it looks/sounds....I will consider one. The only drawback to the FI boxer engine is that exhaust gas flow isn't terribly efficient. I think I'd have a better time modding an EVO. I guess the descision would come down to if I want a more pupose built car or something a little more classy. The Legacy is definily a nice comprimise.

Yes, but like the Forester XT, STi, WRX, there are plenty of aftermarket uppipes, down pipes, headers, exhausts, as well as ECU chipping for 100+ bhp increases.

Check out what's coming for our XT very soon

true, there is still plenty of potential in this engine. It's just that the exhaust has to travel so far to get to the damn turbo. I guess it's only a factor when one is trying to push the limits of tuning. But yes get close to 400 hp out of this engine won't be a problem with the stock turbo. At least for the stock Sti turbo. I think the legacy and forrester get smaller units, But I'm not sure about that.

Difference between Forester XT and STi is smaller turbo (same as WRX) and intercooler, and different ECU maps. I think the same holds true with the new Legacy.

There are a lot of XT folks who have already made their Forester an STi model with those simple upgrades. With a couple ECU mods coming out from reputable tuners, this year should be interesting.

yeah apprently Sti turbos can be found cheap and the I believe I heard the STi ECU works fine as well. Or as you say, why not just get an aftermarket tuner's software. I have yet to drive and STi or EVO...I'm afraid I like them too much. My buddy is trapping 106 mph with his EVO, full tank of street fuel, car filled with his school stuff. Just an intake, boost controller and software flash.
