Nissan uses these currently in the low end Zs. The higher end Zs and and Gs use a traditional LSD setup.

But the new VLSD's are so effective and seamless these days, you can't tell the difference. I've driven my Z on AutoX many times and I never only have 1 tire spinning through turns

ack....my apologies to scrib i mis-informed him. It thought I read the Z's would have different LSD depending on the version. Apparently base Z has no LSD.
Also....i'll have to disagree the response time is much quicker in a mechanical unit than liquid. The difference is very noticable if you switch between two cars.

ah nothing wrong with the Viscous but i just like the feel of the mechanical...... the difference is small but just preference i guess.....

i actually like the current interior a little more. I like the way the analog clock is positioned in the 03/04's. Changing the titanium pieces to real aluminum didn't really change the look of the interior much. The only thing that i think sucks is the 15hp increase. Hopefully current g owners can find where infiniti got the extra 15 so we can do it also.

I don't see how you can make statements like that when the car isn't even out to be tested. The competition is getting tough, it only makes sense the hp gains are real to keep the G on top till it gets a total redesign, they can't afford to pull out the eraser and just change numbers on paper.

Yo Scrib, I gotta question......I have a 2003 6MT C and my window sticker says it has Limited Slip Differential. There is no mention of VLSD anywhere until 2004. Could this have been a change between 2003 and 2004? I guess I have a 2003.5. March 2003 manufacture.

The sames salesman told me the G35 didn't have heated side mirrors, when it did have them so I don't know if they're right about the LSD.

Actually if were talking about how Nissan works and not how a g35 forum thinks, it would be logical to think that the g sedan would have 295hp like the coupe and its just underatted to 277 to seperate them.

The word is getting around about how high HP and FWD don't mix. Honda is already getting the Accord ready with AWD. How far can the rest of the platforms be?
I wouldn't count on a V8, but they aren't going to ignore trends too much longer.
Predictions:
1. Will have to move to a DSG type gearbox sooner than later. Getting rid of the current “slushbox” tranny would remove the losses that would come from adding AWD. (IMO, they would probably come out ahead, especially with the magnetic clutching system to remove drive when economy called for it.)
2. Will definitely move to AWD on any platform that will have to contend with any "xxx-luxury sports" segment.
3. Will claim that their support for all-climate performance and good safety is at the head of their move to AWD (with possible hybrid options).
Outside of losing some HP due to the additional parasitic losses that come from more moving parts (AWD), they can make up for that wth hybrid options. There was that comment/blurb about an Accord hybrid.
Motorweek's review of the G35 AWD sedan on TV today looked very impressive. They better get moving -- NOW!
