Oh well shit happens. Honda better not sit on the Accord and leave it alone for 5 years like it did with the last one. 200 hp while everyone was going past the 225 mark.

7 Gen Accords have 240 HP. Not sure if you were talkin about the 6 Gen v6's they have 200 HP.
Anyways....the SE-R looks pretty nice...although i still hate the altezza's

After driving the Z the other night I just wonder how that engine has made the top 10 list for ten years in a row. I think it was smoother way back when in the old 190hp Maximas than it is now. The J-series is leaps and bounds more refined than the VQ-maybe not as much torque, but way smoother and way better top end.

bigman, its unlikey Honda will bump up the HP on the current 7G Accord. NOTE: I mean they WONT do it, though we know they could. (read: Honda AC-R's 300hp J30A1)
The last time Honda bumped up the hp on the Accord (mid-generation) was the 1995 Accord V6 (170hp C27 motor); and that was because the market demand shifted in favor of a V6 option for that class (a la Camry V6, 626 V6).

I test drove the 2005 Altima the other day and then tested the 04 Accord and 04 Civic shortly after. As far as engine power -- yeah, Nissan has the advantage over Honda in I4 and V6 trim. But as far as interior quality? Please.
Nissan made a big deal about the new interior in the '05 Altima refresh, but it still is quite a drop down from Honda quality. In fact, my fiance and I liked the '04 Civic EX interior more than the new Altima. The Altima just had hard plastic *everywhere* -- it looks good in the pictures online but not in person.
Now if Honda could tweak the 7-gen Accord exterior so it isn't so ... well... you know what I mean.

IMO, Nissan probaby has people like me in mind when they upgraded the Altima: 2k2/3 Maxima owners whose leases are almost up, seeking a performance sedan w/decent interior quality (not necessarily great) but very hesitant to pay more than $30G and not really feeling any love towards the new 6G Maxima. $.02

The interior was an improvement over the '04, but nothing close to what the Nissan salesman was trying to make it seem. It isn't just looks -- the feel of the interior is cheap due to the hard plastics. Compare the storage bins (eyeglasses, center console, and armrest) between the Accord and Altima. The Accord's bins (eyeglass and center console) open with a touch and a nice slow&smooth motion due to some gears (spring, whatever). The Altima's bins just plop down/up and have a cheap feeling.
That's not to say it is a bad car, because it isn't. Nissan clearly has put performance before interior refinement in their latest cars where Honda is the opposite, IMO.

Well, I have to agree on the interior of the Altima vs. the Accord (note sig). But neither car is really the clear winner over the other. Where one car shines, the other one falls down. For example, the Accord's body panels don't line up nearly as well as my Altima's do (and there was appreciable variance on every Accord on the lot). Anyway, I'm not digging the SE-R rims. I'll be the first to buy whatever MAF they're using though :-).

Even before I had my Maxima (and only had my 99 Accord), I always stated that if Carlos Goshn(sp?) of Nissan ran Honda, you'd probably see a 260-280hp Accord V6 Sedan (i.e.: detuned Honda AC-R motor) w/a manual tranny, a 200hp K20A Civic coupe and the JDM Integra Type R (RSX-R). And you'd probably see, the original 300hp+ J32A5(?) motor in the TL A-spec. (ref. TOV)

I also can appreciate the idea of a BMWish Altima but with WRXs and EVOs and even the 350Z, this rental car with a kit screams poser.
Also, why on earth now do they still have the Maxima? For 30k, I'd get the REAL sports sedan, the G35 if I was gonna get a Nissan product.

the real sport sedan is the maxima.. its just as fast if not faster than a g35 sedan. real life 1/4 times for the 04 max se and the 04 g35 sedan are very equal. 5spd automatic quickest 04 max se bone stock so far on maxima.org is a 14.2, the second is my fathers 5spd automatic 04 maxima se which my brother took it to the track bone stock in crappy weather and ran a 14.4 at 96 mph. and the car can do better with cooler weather.. if u judge how the max looks u wont think its sporty, drive one its nice as hell.. looks and driving the car is great. the max shouldnt go anywhere.

This new Altima SE-R will rock the world of its segment!
The new 05 Altima is really a nice ride, just go an drive one and find how smooth and quiet the engine is!... Also, the SE-R will kick it up couple notches!... SE-R/6-speed will be a 5.5s to 60! and will handle better than any factory Honda's (save the NSX)!!
Damn it we are not talking about NISMO tuned SE-R yet!!! If Nissan has NISMO, Honda has nothing!... I know Comptech is a third party tuner not Honda's!!! with NISMO street item you keep Nissan 5 years 60 kmiles powertrain warranty.. Oh Honda has only 3yrs/36k miles.
Nissan has some major balls here... This is why they have 20% sales growth year over year. Acura is losing traction and the Honda trucks are saving the day!!!...
Soon Toyota/Lexus will change gears and launch an assault of Hi performance Hybrid cars...
Where is Honda? wake up people!

The 02-03 Maxima might equal the G35 if it had good traction, but thats it.
Also your statement about the maxima being a real sports sedan over the G35. lol omg your dumb.

I don't disagree with your times. But I don’t think those times are correct for most 04max.
Just like a guy on the BMW site ran a 14.2 or 14.1 in his cl typeS.
