The Vaulted Lexus has issues as well, people are so quick to jump on Acura, every car company has issues.

Hmmm, let's compare. 14K cars for one model and only for a single production year vs. four models across two brands spanning four years affecting 100's of thousands of cars. It's hard to tell from the announcement whether Toyota volunteered to recall the cars or was forced to. As an ex-Gen II owner, I know for sure Acura only issued the recall under threat by the NHTSB and the fact that some cars went through three transmissions in twelve months meant nothing. The scope, scale, and reluctance on Acura's part is what makes their transmission recall unique.

No car company is going to recall anything if they dont have to,they sell to make money, not to spend it repairing your/mine cars.

Belongs in Ramblings: Cars and Bikes. Moving.

But this stuff only reminds us that all makes have their problems.

I've been in the LS430 before. That thing pulls like a train ! I was pushed back in my seat when the sales person hit the pedal to the metal.

That's because it has a V8.

Also, lets not leave out.

That was one of two newly announced recalls for the top-of-the-line Lexus sedan, NHTSA records show. Lexus dealers also will replace fuel pumps in about 14,000 2004-model LS 430s.

Lexus is not perfect. Glad to see they WILLINGLY recalled the LS instead of pulling an Acura with the tranny problem. I didn't see any threads about trannies going out on the LExus forum so I am sure it is a preventive measure.
I talked to the local GM here about it. The LS 430 owners are gonna get pampered out this world for the issue from what he stated. Free service coupons, they'll pick up the car, it will take 1 day, flowers etc etc etc.

Did you notice how many Honda's were on that list relative to Toyotas and Nissans? Pot calling the kettle black...
