2004 Acura EL premium starts fine sometimes then doesn't start sometimes
Hello having some starting issues with my 2004 acura El premium Canadian model.
Sorry if this is the worng spot since theirs no acura el spot!
Sometime it starts right up no problems then sometimes it wont start it just cranks over but won't fire up it will take a few key turns to get it too start when it dose that then it runs rough for 2 sec then it's fine like nothing happened or was wrong.
today was about 25 Celsius pretty hot in Ontario today. It wouldn't start 4 times after i shut the car off today when i was out took about 3 or 5 key turn to make the car start up after but then sometimes it would just start up like their was no starting problem.
Then i was at the gas station filling up took about 10 mins to getting the car to start after i put gas into it would just crank over it would not firing up then bam it started went home shut the car off tryed to restart it it just started up no problem even know 5 mins ago it wouldn't start at the gas station?
Iv be doing some research and found that few acuras that are doing this have bad cranked soders in the relay under stearing wheel that control the fuel pump.
Could the PGM-FI relay be causing my starting problem to not start sometime then the car starts just fine sometimes & is the relay in the same spot as the acura cl under the stearing wheel or is it in a different spot cause its a 2004 acura el premium Canadian model.
thanks alot I don't know where to post stuff since their's no spot for acura el modles!
would like to hear what what people think of this problem

It appears you are on the right track with this. A fuel system problem is the most likely cause for this problem. The most common faults would be a failing fuel pump or a bad fuel pump relay. This article matches up almost completly to the fuel pump relay problem. https://www.yourmechanic.com/article...uel-pump-relay.
When the fuel pump starts to go bad it can exhibit similar symptoms. The reason it may take a few key cycles to start is the fuel pump primes each time the key is turned and is able to build enough pressure over a few key cycles to start. A fuel pressure test is a quick way to eliminate the fuel pump as part of the problem.

I'm sure you did, but have you tested the battery? Are there any lights on the dash that are coming on? Possibly the alternator starting to go bad. You should have an OBDll scan tool hooked up and see if any codes could me up.

No i haven't had the battery tested seems too turn the motor over quickly also haven't checked the cold cranking amp battery seems good, i think if the battery was bad it would being doing this all the time not here and their it's a intermittent issue sometimes it dose it then sometimes it don't. Ill test get a free test done at part sorce definitely not a battery issue though.
i do have a check engine light on ill get the code aging but i think one was the heat thermal stat right by egr the temp gage gose from half too no temp at all then go back to normal iv only see that happen few times so far.
is their a main relay under the dash? i looked on both side of the car couldn't find anything under the dash or glove box.

Focus on the Fuel Relay.

Some months ago, I found a direction somewhere to check the fuse relay, located behind the glove box, passenger side corner (Omron 1175A31F). I swapped this relay with that from a 2005 EL owned by a companion. We left the relays interchanged. Problems went away for the 2004 EL; the 2005 EL ran fine for many months until this weekend (coldest day of the season) - the 2005 EL is now exhibiting the problem. So I will try locate a new relay and it should be an easy fix.
Despite best efforts, I could not find the article that led me to this relay particularly and I can't find a relay diagram anywhere.

That's what I was going to say, there's no EL sub forum here, better off on a Honda blog. Good luck, I'll leave this open for now.

Owen.
I still have an 2003 Acura EL in the family. Have had is for over 10 years so know a bit about these cars. I have attached a link to a diagram for the location of the 2 main fuel relays behind the glovebox. It is post #6 in this link: 2001 EX main relay - Honda Civic Forum (civicforums.com)
Replacing the relays seems to solve the no start issue when the vehicle is warmed up.
