2002 Honda Civic 5spd

Hi people.
I don't know civics that well. I found a 2002 Honda Civic 5spd MT. The car looks bone stock and everything seemed to work well at 72,000 miles. The seller is asking $3200 and does not seem to be a bad price given the fact the car visually have no problem except 2 things I found quite strange.

1. SRS light is on (I used a scanner and it threw no codes.) I am assuming the airbag isn't working?

2. On the dash board, below the RPM gauge had a automatic car list.

#2 got me totally confused. It's a 5spd MT then why would it have such thing on it? For those of you who have been in a 2001/2002 or 2003 5spd MT civic, is that normal? I have never in my seen a manual tran car with those symbols on the dashb. Seems to me that the car has been tranny swapped? Besides that, everything seemed to be ok.

help please.

Either tranny swapped or cluster swapped.

Ask the seller why his 5MT civic has an automatic cluster. That is something to be wary of. SRS on? May have been in an accident and the airbags were not replaced properly. Unless you can get some clean straight honest answers from the seller I would stay away.

Yes, I just ran the vehicle VIN and it came back 7/2004 front end impact with airbag replaced. As to the cluster, I will ask him, something just don't add up right here. a 5MT with a AT cluster... I will need some answers from him.

If it doesn't add up on two different aspects, why even bother asking him? Is the car still worth it to you? Will you trust his answers to be truthful?

If you do talk to him again I would bring up the SRS and the incident in the carfax you ran. If he acts naive i would walk away.

My guess is the cluster was swapped, Maybe it was damaged in the accident by the airbag. I'd leave this car alone and find another that wasnt involved in any accidents.

The cluster doesn't have "R", that means the car doesn't have reverse..... I wouldn't buy it. How are you going to drive it?

I would be weary of this purchase; if the cluster was replaced and you are still planning on purchasing it, I'd check the miles to make sure they're right. Does everything add up on the carfax?
