Cracked windshield

Rock from a dump truck smacked my windshield today and made a significant crack. I followed the truck, called cops, they new each other (dump truck was village owned) and he said its incident report because it was "act of god" - I got pissed and demanded accident report. He did it eventually. So, my question is, will insurance (truck's) cover it? And more importantly, how much will it cost? Its a 03 TL. Thanks everyone.

I'm not an expert...but, the best bet is to call your insurance and ask. It doesn't cost you anything for the phonecall.

Depends- did the rock fall out of the dump truck's bed or was it kicked up by the dump truck? If the rock fell out of the dump truck, it'll be covered.
If it was kicked up, your guess is as good as mine.

However, you can make a claim on your own insurance under the comprehensive coverage to pay for the windshield replacement. Although you will have to pay the deductible initially, you may get it back if your insurer chases down the dump truck's insurer.

The windshield glass can cost anywhere from $300 to $800 (for 3G TLs multi-layer glass) or so.

Issue is how do you prove the rock came from the truck? Did you find the rock? Was the truck hauling rocks? Was there a fabric cover over the top of the bed?

I had this happen before and my insurance company said there is little to no chance you'll get their insurance to pay. If it happened to multiple cars, you'd have a chance.

Do you have $0 deductible on windshield glass?

City paid everything, believe it or not. No argument, no nothing. Didn't even have to go through insurance, City paid directly to shop.
