Hi,
So I'm in the market for my first car. I was reading the paper this morning and noticed a 2002 Civic Si located at the local Volvo dealer. I went on the internet to search the car but whenever I searched for "2002 Si" every link would be for the hatchback.

So I went to the dealer and checked out the car. It read Si on the back and was in very good condition. The window sticker read "Accident, $3000.00". It was apparently just the front bumper that was hit, no frame damage. The only reason why the cost was $3000.00 is because he repainted the whole car after the accident. So I took the VIN # down, came home and searched the internet. What came up was a 2002 Honda Civic EX!! Why is this? Is the car really not an Si, is CarFax accurate? Also, how can I tell the difference between the EX and the Si?

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot.

Matt

PS: The car's sale price is CAD $8, 450.

OK, I just read somewhere that in Canada, the EX is called the Si and the Si is called the SiR. Good to know.

So should I buy this car?

I wouldn't want any car that's been in an accident when there are so many used ones out there that have not.

There was no frame damage to the car. It was simply the front bumper so nothing major. There is nothing wrong with the car because of he accident it was just a little fender bender. The only reason the cost was so much to repair was because they previous owner got the whole car repainted, which as we all know is a pretty penny.

I'm gonna test drive the car tomorrow and I'll let you guys know what I think.

Accident aside, there is a non-hatch Si in Canada, it's the US EX. Looks like this:

So I guess no one wants to buy my car ... Only had to have the rear plastic bumper replaced ...

But a 2002 Civic Si (CDM spec) ... whole body repainted and only C$8.5k ... be afraid ... be very afraid ...

I was going to go for a test drive today after work but I got a call telling me that they sold the thing. Man I'm pissed, I really wanted that car. Well I guess that means I'll find something better.
