2002 3.2 TL TYPE S ground control

hey im about to lower my car with the Ground Control Coilovers. Im thinking about dropping it in with my stock shocks, but im kinda scared that i might bottom out or blow my shocks. Should i just go ahead and put it in and lower it about 1/2 inch to 1 inch? will it be fine with my shocks if i lower it from 1- 1 1/2 inch? Im kind of low on money so i really wanna lower my car without new shocks so what do you guys think?

depends how many miles on it

i dropped my car on s-tech springs and i had 100k on my ride, but i eventually upgraded to new shocks

btw correct me if im wrong, but arent coilovers shocks+springs and some other shit. i was always under the impression that you dont need new shocks if you got coilovers

I dropped my 2000 Accord on stock shocks in 01 and the ride was great for years. I probably would've changed the shocks last year if I was worried about a smooth ride. Nothing has busted yet though.

A conventional system does, like Tein or Zeal.

GroundControl are sleeve coilovers that just replace your springs.

So what do i need to do so that it will fit properly and not bottom out. I have to cut my bumpstops half way right? What if I lowered my car too much or like dumped it. Im planning to just lower it about 1inch to 1.5 inches, just curious. Thanks

If your shocks are fine, then you'll have no problem dropping the car. It all depends on your shocks. LIke I said my car was 1 yr old so the shocks weren't an issue.

Don't run GC on your car. GC is not that good, especially when you're going budget with stock shocks. It will ride like shit and you probably won't like it. Save up 'til you can afford a good setup.

Ground control is made by eibach no?

Yeah, I would definetly save up and get something better. They are priced really cheap for a reason.

In the long run it is more cost effective getting Tiens. I think they're like $900 where GC are like $450 and good shocks are about the same price. Plus install all at once will be cheaper than separating it out. However it's not like the GC's are chopped liver. I've had no problems with my suspension in almost 5 years.

Sorry I had to close it, but we can't move topics into the car forums... but feel free to check out the TL section and repost if you didn't find the answer you were looking for. Here's a link directly into the suspension area... https://acurazine.com/forums/black-market-8/ . Surprised this wasn't caught sooner....

Also, if you're looking for suspension, check out our shop and support a vendor . Link is in the signature.
