07 camry...checked it out...
got a chance to check out an 2007 camry today - the toyota plant is about 25 minutes from my house, its where the camry, sienna, and solara are built, and I quality control guy i know brought home an XLE camry for the weekend.
First impressions:
The car caught my eye immediately. I almost thought it was the new ES. The two look a quite alike in pics. The rear of the camry looks nice and classy, yet somewhat exciting. The front -well the beaver like grill will have to grow on me. However, front, back or side - the car is no longer bland, and thats good in my book.
Keyless entry was a nice "novelty". Worked like any other system, such as in the RL.
Interior fit and finish was tops. Wood accents thatm "curved" around door panels were cool.
I was surprised that the trunk release lever was still on the floor - I'd have thought that they would have made it some electronic push button deal. Kinda felt cheap.
Engine was the 3.5 unit - revved it up a bit, and it sounded like it had some SLIGHT vibration to it, which kinda surprised me. My comparison was my TL which i had just stepped out of. However in all fairness, the engine had only been runnig for around 5-6 minutes and wasn't FULLY warmed up.
Blue "accents" around the navigation looked kinda out of place and ghey - i sure hope this is optional.
Can't fold back seats down - looked like they had some bracing in here. I was really surprised cauise I figured this was a key feature with these cars. It had a sk pass through.
Rear seat reclined. i think my friend said that they had about 10 degree of play. Not a whole lot. More a gimmick/novelty IMO.
Overall, pretty impressedwith the car. Didnt get to drive it this time, but will probably do so next weekend, so no driving impressions for now. This new gen camry will undoubtedly continue the camry's strong sale's trend.

it's aiite. it looks just like avalon, but better rear. i don't really like the interior though
anyway camry should break 500,000 sales mark sooner or later.
also with a navi and full option isn't it like 33-34k? if that's true, that's crazy

Good write up. Wow, and you're only 18. I wouldn't call you an old fart. You sound pretty mature for 18 though.
Anyway, I like how the new Camry looks. Even better I like the new Avalon (can't wait to see one on 20s.)
I guess that makes me an old fart

It's not that you're old farts. It's that Toyota stepped up the game. However I remember back in like 95-96 when that gen. Camry came out the thing looked like a Lexus. I thought it was a pimp generation. The one after bored me and then the current one looks good with the OEM kit and 17s.
