2 things that get me mad in NYC

I don't know witch one to start with so I guess I'll go with the one costing me $45.

first: I was forced to park on 4th Ave by 88th in Brooklyn for the night. The sign said that metered parking would begin at 8:30. I assumed that I could park there. Apparently the street cleaning began at 8 so when I went to get my car at 8:20 I had a ticket. I looked for the signs wondering why I got the ticket and I still couldn't figure out why. Is it worth putting up a fight or just paying the money?

Second rant: Due to all of the construction and new traffic patterns on the roads, some people don't know where there car should be when they are driving. I had some guy almost hit me because he didn't know where he should be. He laid on the horn thinking it was my fault. I'm pretty sure that he realized that it wasn't mine... nor his for that matter. All we need are clearly marked lanes for the drivers not use to the roads.

Sorry for my Sunday Morning rant. Thank God that Spring is coming!!! Nice Weather FTW

lol, that sucks! I drove to nyc once and will not do it again! Everytime I need to go into the city I take the metro north in and take cabs around all day. I LOVE the nyc cabs, those guys drive crazy but I find it pretty funny.
I don't have these issues...I live in the woods, it's bad!

Welcome to NYC, the rules of the road don't apply. And park in garages. When you figure the price of a ticket compared to the price of a garage, you're better off in the end.

just pay it, no way youre beating it, especially if its one of those printed parking tickets.... but are u sure the ticket was written early because remember the clock changed this morning.

if it was written before 830 take a picture of the street sign closest to your car and send a copy in with the ticket and keep your fingers crossed cause that might not even get it dismissed, but thats your best try

What time on the ticket does it say you were issued the violation? If it's before 8:30am and you were allowed to park there before that time, simply mail it in pleading not guilty with a letter stating that you got the ticket before the street cleaning rules came into effect. It should get dismissed if you really are innocent.

I was wondering why the ticket price jumped 10 bucks in the last 6 months. It really does serve as a deterrent though - when I go into sf to see my g/f and park in a street cleaning spot I sure as hell get up to move the car.
