'09 Z06 vs. early 90's Buick Regal

A friend of mine (the same friend I gave my S2000 to use for a while) picked up a 2009 Z06 that he dropped off by me because he wanted me to take it to my accessory shop to do some work.

Anywho, I'm almost in my office when this early 90's Buick Regal stomps on the gas to drive with me side to side..I'm cruising about 35-40mph at this point, my brother in law in the passenger's seat looks over and notices what he's trying to do, and he's looking over at us and laughing. He's try SO HARD to get me to open her up, but I don't because I know better...Next thing you know he stomps on the gas, cuts me off and keeps going into the left lane to make a turn at a stop light. I get to the light too but i'm making a right turn. As I stop I give it some decent gas to shake the earth a little bit, then I make my turn....I guess I lost another race...

On a serious note, this thing is as fast as a phuk...

It's easier to drive than I thought, especially when you're driving normally, but once you open this bitch up, you better hang on or else you're gonna lose control verrry quickly!

One pic for now....I'll take a few more when I get it back from the shop later today...

I bet he's telling all of his friends how he smoked a Vette.

That red looks good.

Don't mind the bad construction work in front of the office...I had a water main break under my office this past Friday, that was after the repairs were done, now i'm waiting for another contracted company to come and make it look nice and pretty

Ya those turbo regals can be quick.

I'd still rather have the Z06.

That is not the turbo Regal, GN or GNX. Unless you heard some wild cam from a full engine and driveline conversion, I don't think that car is going to smoke your SUVs, let alone the 'vette.

(I'm a GM guy).... really, the GN/GNX wasn't a 90's model???

I was just joking you guys, it just seemed too funny. After reading his story I made the connection with "I hate cars" and his wtf-Z06 thread. Plus the stories are so similar!

The one car from the 80's era that I would love to have is a Buick GRand National, GNX flavor. Yes, those interiors were a bit of shit, but I always loved the look of those two door beasts.

In second place was the Olds Cutlass 442, with the Hurst Lightning Rods. Not really a fast car, but nice none the less.

GN-X is one of the top American cars of all-time, imo.

they were turboed. but those damn GNXs were fucking fast. there's a guy over by where i live. he's a easy 11 second GNX and he doesn't have heavy mods done to it. like bolt ons. no spray. I saw him the other weekend run even with a new Z06 vette.

The 90s Regals did have the S/C 3.8L but with 240hp. They were about 7-second cars to 60mph.

I doubt it was S/C'ed, looked like a basic/normal/typical car...

Today I was on Sunrise Highway driving my S2k and this '04-'05 MB E500 kept weaving in and out trying to catch up o me so he can line up and race me. I lost yet again...my damn leg pushed on the gas about 3 seconds after he peeled off at WOT

Anyone wanna teach me how to race?

This works in reverse though, ever had a car obviously faster than your own trying to race you? Had this happen the other day with a Saleen Mustang, in the rain. Had to race me, but he couldn't hook up at any speed, fish tailing all over. It was sad really, since I didnt even try.

As far as GNX's, way back when, I got to a stop light at the front right next to him. I raced fully knowing he would leave me far behind, but I just wanted to hear that damn engine.
