'09 Ram Crew Cab

I currently have an '07 Tundra and really like it. However, I bought it when there was the 0% financing for the old '07s and didn't get exactly what I wanted. With that said, I have been thinking about getting into one of the new Ram Crew Cabs as they are having some great deals now (employee pricing plus 0%). What do y'all think about the new Ram? From what I have read, the new coil spring rear is nice.

Thoughts about trading?

I'll use this thread as well as it'll soon be the end of my Tundra lease. Ram, F-Series are what I'll be looking at as I absolutely can't stand the design of the Chevy trucks.

I had an '04 Titan that was excellent. The truck is a bit dated now, 5 years old, but I think its still a great half ton pickup.

That's another reason why I am looking at them. I have a fellow viper friend that owns a dodge store, so the numbers are looking very good.

The only thing that scares me is the resale value. You will lose A LOT of money no matter on how much you save now.

G$,

You are not looking for another car/truck?

I think you are genetically predisposed to a new vehicle every 6 months.

Good luck with the truck hunt.

I'm not a fan of the Ram's in general, and Chyrslers build quality doesn't help that. I think the new F-150 is probably the best truck on the road right now, it's great looking and has a complete package (looks/power train/capabilities). The silverado looks wise is a pretty ugly mutt, but the GMC looks pretty good IMO I also like the 5.3 in the chevy as it has great power and gets great mileage (14/20 mpg compared too 13/18 for the dodge and 14/18 in the Ford). From when I did test drives, this was all 05's FX4 vs. Z71 vs. Ram I thought the Z71 was the best, felt quickest on it's feet and handled the best out of the bunch, but had the worst interior, with the FX4 being the best and Ram in between. Obviously this has probably all changed since 05, but I suggest you take the time to test drive them all back to back and take notes of likes and dislikes.

EDIT. thought you didnt like the tundra

i would check the GMC, always though it was wayy better compared to its chevy counterpart...

but in motor trend, the f150 won truck of the year over the ram...

Silverado SS is a nice truck but I think you probably saw an 06 or so...the current Sierra/Silverado do nothing for me.

You of course are entitled to your opinion, and there are undoubtedly some features where trucks of different manufacturers excel over others. In fact, I really think it's hard to get a bad truck nowadays. Most offerings have improved throughout the years. As someone, however, who actually uses multiple trucks for their intended purpose (and often use them hard), I always come back to Ford. My pickups often have thousands of pounds in their beds and are expected to be reliable for many, many kilometers. And using Fords exclusively as of late, I have absolutely no complaints. This is opposite of the last Dodge pickup that we used.

I gotta agree with Terry. I grew up on a farm and work in the horse industry now. We have also had ford crew cab diesels that are beat (pulling big horse trailers, driven through fields daily, hay feed thrown in, etc) and never had any problems. I have seen many vets and ferriers change over to the Dodges and switch back very quickly. Our current blacksmith actually spent tons of money to have his custom back put on a new dodge and couldnt stand the thing, 6 months later he was back in a ford.

Check out people that really use these things and you will see nothing but fords. Have you ever seen a city that uses Rams for their workers? There has to be a reason for this

That being said, if the price is right and you are using it for light duty go for it. Oh that Viper truck is bad ass
