07 STI Test Drive
Wow!! Even in the rain that thing could haul ass! My 04 6MT Tl is coming off of lease in a few months. Should I go with the 07 STI? AWD, Turbo, 4 doors. I just dont want the wing or the gold rims and want it in black. I just dont know if I should extend my lease and hold out for an 08.

If you don't want the ridiculously large wing in the rear, you can always go with the STi Limited Edition. More of a mature STi to me. Everythings the same except the wheels and the rear wing. I'd get one if I didnt have a TSX, and if the insurance wasn't so damn high.

I checked out the Legacy Spec B They wanted 35k for it and i'm really thinking about purchasing the vehicle to replace my TL. I had no idea it was out already!!!
I think if they would have let me test drive it, I probably would have driven off the lot with it

Wrong. Whoever told you that is retarded. The Legacy GT Spec B does NOT use the same turbo, intercooler, or even the same intake manifold as the STI. Sure, the injectors are the same, but if you think swapping in a stock STi chip will boost your Legacy GT Spec B to 300 hp, you must be dreaming.
The TMIC is way smaller, the turbo is completely different, the bov is different (not like that matters much), the intake manifold shape and runner length is different, and its plastic composite. But suffice it to say that in stock form the 2 motors are very different.
Now, if you take that and program it for a LGT from the dealer, and get a ECUtek reflash, then now we're talkin'.
Regardless, the LGT is a great car.

I am afraid I am gonna look rice in an STI. But I do like it. I want black, tint it out, and put som gunmetal rims on it i think it would look pretty sleek. But I agree, the wing will prob have to go. Isnt it just bolted on? Cant I just have the wing removed?

Buy a LGT! Same EXACT Engine block and heads as the STI. Its been verified over and over.
The turbo is slightly smaller, the intercooler's internal volume is bigger, different intake manifold, but most people running massive turbos flip the lgt pastic manifold and do not use the sti one. the plastic has much better thermal properties.
STI is basically a race car, LGT is a sleeper with creature comforts. seems to me like you want speed with creature comforts. but there is no diff or power adj of the tranny like on the sti so it's always split 50/50.
the aerodynamics of the lgt are far superior to the wrx so highway driving is more refined and if you must, triple digit speeds are easier to get to becuase of the large difference in drag.
if your stuck on sti performance know that for $1k or less you can swap the downpipe in the lgt and run a stage 2 off the shelf map from cobb and you will be making well over 300/330 at the crank!! lots of lgt.com members have low 13 sec timeslips, some even in 12s.
obviously you dont have the sti suspension, but most people hate it for daily driving, especially the females. its a race application not street. if you want to auto x, the sti is def superior out of the box. it was designed to race not drive the streets.
also you can hit 60 in 2nd gear in the lgt vs having to shift into 3rd in an sti. this is very useful around town.
gettin a lgt spec b under msrp is more likely then a sti, especially the limited (which is a trimmed down version, even less creature comforts) dont see how you can go from a newer tl with such a nice interior to that.
best thing about the lgt is you can cruise around and be ignored by ricers and the cops. they have no idea whats driving around. its awesome
best thing about the sti is it holds its value, but insurance sucks so i think its a wash.
good luck with the new car. new car shopping is the best Fu@#@#king thing after sex.
you should def come browse the legacygt.com forums. many are former sti owners. we got people running gt35s and meth injection to twin scroll turbos.
peace

i knew a few guys with legacys would chime in. and what vxcl said, is basically why i'm going to buy a legacy in the next few months hopefully. total sleeper and still can be on par with an sti. also the large aftermarket for the car and the possibilities.

Get the limited model, it eliminates the wing and gold wheels, and adds the leather and some other "luxury" features..I'm getting an STi for someone this week...Looking forward to taking it for a spin. I loved the WRX's for some time..

I agree with Leo an still cringe everyime i see an new STi Pre 06 STi's look alot better, to me at least. The Legacy is also a nice buy if its not what your really looking for then i wouldnt worry about it too much. But being an Evo owner i also suggest you check out an Evo as well.

I am doing a lot of research on the EVO IX and it looks like an all around better for your money car:
1. Sunroof???
2. Don't see too many of them, atleast around Philly area.
