06' TL Replacement Windshield

Got hit by a stone/rock the other day on the way to the airport. Actually saw it fall from cement mixer, claim process underway. Needed to supply price estimate. Local Acura dealer quoted $650!!!! Has anybody replaced their front windshield previously? What price did you pay? Did you go directly to Acura dealer (if not what are the results)?

Mine cost $650 through a windshield repair company 3 months after i got my CL. A rock hit my windshield too. Of course I only had to pay my deductible of $100.

The insurance company wanted to put in aftermarket glass on my car, but I was like hell no you aint. I just bought this car and told them I wanted factory glass. I know it's not that much of a difference but since my deductible was $100, either way I was paying the same amount. And the car was still new.

if the repair is going to be above your deductible, does it really matter? If it is going to be above the deductible I'd rather go the dealer.

ok if insurance is going to pay for it then going to the dealer is fine....i assumed So Cali didnt have windshield coverage (nor do I) since he was concerned about the price.

The list of features and equipment contains a number of firsts for the industry and for Acura. It is the first vehicle in North America to feature an acoustic glass windshield with shade band..........

Acoustically Tuned Glass Windshield

To reduce cabin noise, the TL windshield is made of 4.7 mm thick acoustic glass, which consists of two layers of safety glass, separated by a thin acoustic resin center. This represents the first time that acoustic glass with a shade band has been applied to a luxury vehicle in North America. The windshield reduces road noise on smooth asphalt significantly in the higher frequency ranges. To reduce noise intrusion through the side glass, the front and rear movable door glass is 5 mm thick.

i would stick with oem

I don't know if he's going through insurance, but I was just stating that if you are it doesn't really matter (based on your deductible amount).
