05 Mazda3 -or- 05 Altima 2.5

Hey guys. need some help.

Been looking kind of hard and decideing which car to get.

Which do you think would be a better buy?

Both Automatch w/ 4 bangers.

Mazda3 (4-door) or Altima 2.5 ?

The mazda3 and Altima 2.5 I can get either for 16K out the door.

The Mazda3 will be brand spankin new,,,, or the Altima 2.5 which will NOT BE new, but only 20K miles.

Help , help. Which one fellas?

Thanks 4 any opinions.

Mazda 3. Better looking, more fun to drive, and brand new. Little smaller in this case but is a great car.

waiting for the mazdaspeed version

the Altima does have 25 hp more though. Stil U think Mazda3 over the Altima?

(keep in mind the mazda3 I get would be auto, not the 5spd version).

i would go w/ the mazda 3. Less horsepower, but i'm assuming it handles a lot better.

Neither one is going to be burning up the road. But Mazda is a lot more fun to drive.

I mean all the reviews of the 3 are positive. Great car all around, can't go wrong with it

I love the Mazda 3... drives great too. Plus the interior seems nicer than the altima.

Any reason why you've narrowed it down to only those 2?

Not that I have a Nissan bias ( sig), I'd go with the 2.5S, which could be acquired new for $18k (particularly left over 05 models).

Depending on what you prioritize, either one will do.

I'd get the Altima simply because it offers more room. The 3 is tight, and if you're looking for a 4-door one, I assume you'll be using that backseat?

my dad had an altima 4 banger....it was pretty torquey...had no high end power but definately launched pretty fast. the ride was really smooth and everything....it was roomy as hell too, way more room than my 2000 TL....i banged my GF so many times in the back of that altima with no problems...in the TL its a little cramped, i couldnt do doggy style in the TL..not enough room

so if your planning on banging any hookers and shit in your car...get the altima

HAHAHAHAHA, i disagree that the altima is a lot roomier than a 2G TL, it's not much roomier at all. I fucked my wife in the ass in the backseat of my 99 while eating pretzels and drinking a beer. get the altima, better overall car for the same price or better yet a used 2G TL, better than both by a wide margin.

My family used to own lots of Mazda's and my friend currently owns an 03' 6. Mazda's arer SOLID built cars. Altima's are built well, but the interiors are somewhat lacking and the looks are kinda ugly. Go with the 3... you'll like it.

I'd get the Altima only if you need a big back seat.

The comparable Nissan is of course the Sentra. Which is the one to get if you like torque, and don't mind lots of torque steer.

On the other hand, this being an Acura forum, the new Civic is a very nice looking car with a roomy back seat. If you haven't seen one in person yet, you should. Much better than the photos. Not as quick or as fun to drive as the Mazda, though.

Even as a Nissan guy, I'd be hard pressed to recommend the Sentra. (Although you are right: it is 'comparable' to the Civic and 3.) The B15 Sentra came out when the Civic was in the middle of its 6G production cycle. But it looks like the Versa is just about here. (I just hope it's 1.8L motor is on par with the Civic's base motor, in terms of power output. AND I hope a sportier version comes out: a la Sport Concept )

I've read similar stories about many cars. On the other hand, I've never read, "This car killed me." Dark humor aside, I've also never read, "This car almost killed me."

The Mazda3 shares a platform with the Volvo S40, so there's a good chance that Volvo had a strong positive impact on the car's safety.

i'd take the Mazda 6. The Altima and Mazda 3 are in different classes, but the Altima is a piece of shit with an engine.
