http://www.my350z.com/home/ is a good forum.
As for the 03-04 350z, the only real things I would look for are the tire wear issue (look for the extended alignment warranty), and any possible tranny grinding. I'm pretty sure the tranny grinding was rare though. Otherwise as far as I know they've been pretty reliable.

I've had 2 350z's
An 03 and now an 06. I absolutely love the car, but I would stay FAR away from an early 03 model. The 2004.5 models have a revised suspension that is more comfortable and does not have the tire wear issue.
In my 30,000 miles of my first Z, I had the transmission replaced for gear grinding, my front tires replaced two times and coming close to a third time and my rear axle replaced. All were known issues with the 03's.
Overall, it is a great car - fast, comfortable, great looking, etc... Just stay away from the first year model IMO.

I mean i always love the Z since i was young(300ZX) but my first car was a hand-me down E36 325i so i love the way BMW drive. Also have frds already driving S2000,RX8,G35 and EVO. I dont want to have a same car with them. And no WRX..i love WRX but it is just little too "Street" feel if u know what i mean. Thx the info guys..keep them coming.

For most of the time (I do have more highway driving than city) I average 24mpg per fillup.
In regards to the other things I dislike, the only other thing that stands out is the lack of storage space. While the Z is better than the S2k in this regard, it suffers compared to the RX-8 or WRX. You definitely won't be able to carry things like you were able to with your TL, but if you know this going in, it lessens the issue.
Overall, not a whole lot else. I really love the car. As I mentioned, it is fun to drive, fast, great exhaust note and looks great. I usually tire of cars quickly but I liked the Z so much (and the fact I got a good deal) I ended up getting another.
Here is a thread I created a few weeks ago when I got my 06. It is a mini-review and some pictures:

Lastly, in regards to size, the car is a sports car, so of course it will be small. If you can't live with a small car, then a sports car is not for you.

Only problems I'm aware of are front tire wear, gas door that won't always open, nav door that goes kaput, and grinding gearboxes.

my frd just bought a 03 350Z automatic from NJ for only 19995USD
but with a faulty radio and A/C, however it's all covered with warrenty
i drove for a bit at buffalo and it was ok, the only good thing is there's a lot of power, but wet traction is bad
it weights at 3110 lb, should be pretty fast
