01 m3... or 07 335

hey guys im thinking about changing it up a bit and trying to decide between an e46 m3 or an e90 335 does anyone here have any opinions on which one the m3 goes for about 20g now but only the 01,02 years and the 07 335 foes for about 30g if were gonna get one of them which one and why? does anyone know people with the year m3 and any consistent problems (on the bimmer forums they call it a money vaccuum but wont say why)

Why wouldn't you at least compare a $30k M3 and a $30k 335i?

I'm sure the M3 is faster on the track but for everyday driving the 335i is about as fast as the E46 M3 was.

lol well if the 335 was 20 grand i would buy it haha and apparantly kbb on 01 m3s are 15,000 while 07 335 are 27,000 im surprised at the value of an m3 i see 02 s2000 selling locally for 16,500 haha i really like the m3 probably a dream car of mine for years now but its almost out dated 9 years old... bmw? garantee to have problems but i figured maybe someone here had an m3 with no problems i have been reading up and the newer year 3 series has many sensor problems like misc. sensors keep breaking while an almost 10 year old bmw sounds almost like a problem in its own haha so the justification is itll save me 10 grand but will it cost me 10 grand in maint/repairs

pretty much here were the options

Eww it's the coupe, i like the sedan 335, so much better. Get the M3 for sure, I'd get the Laguna Seca Blue one, IMO best color in the world.

you don't want the headaches of a nearly-decade-old m3. go with the 335, throw on an intake, exhaust, and chip for $2500 and smile all the way to the finish line!

There is no comparison between the e46 & e92.

If those are my choices this is a no brainer e92 hands down.

The cars have completely different feels.

335 is more of a GT car. Quick, but still pretty comfy for day to day driving.
The M3 is more of a sports car. Louder, harsher ride, not quicker than a 335 in a straight line but the car gives you the feeling that it is.

Careful.....one more vs. scenario and the flamethrowers will come out.

Of these two I will pose one and only one question.

Are you personally paying the service and insurance costs? If so, buy the TL-S. If not, the 335i.

Depends what you want out of the car. If you're looking for the more exciting car to drive, the M3 has it.

You can make the 335i very fast with a small ammount of money, and it wil mop the floor with the E46 M3, but, there is so much more to the driving experince than that.

I had a E92 335i. Great car, enjoyed the heck out it... and it was even reliable for me.

If I had to go back and do it all over again, I would have bought the E46 M3 instead.

Good ole' smurf blue. When the E46 M3 came out, 1 in 3 M3's were Laguna Seca blue in my area.

neither, both are problematic years.
01 M3 had a major engine/fuel related recall. people had 01-02s catch on fire.
07 was the 1st year poduction for the 335 coupe, and i'd stay the hell away from that too.
2 people i know lemoned (sp?) their 07 335 coupe.

You'll have more fun in the M3. You'll be more comfortable in the 335. It depends what you want. The M3 might not be much faster, but it will be more fun to drive.
