doing a full test on Tsukuba Circuit.

very impressive...the race was pretty close...even though m3 = 2x 350z. is the g35c tuned differently in japan? I would have though that the 350 would pull ahead of the g35...

The G35 (skyline) looks so sweet new eye candy, not to take anything away from the 350 or the M3... I'd drive any of those cars.

BTW, excellent video. It was VERY impressive that the G35 was able to hold off the M3 until the very last lap. And that the 350Z was unable to pass the G35.
For a car with softer springs and shocks, the G35 did remarkable well. I wonder which DRIVER was best???

On the track, if another car is in your rear view mirror, he IS faster. I would like to see how much space the M3 and 350Z could put on the G35 if they had started in proper order, M3 --> Z --> G35...

I'll definitely admit that the M3 had the advantage on the straigts....no denying that. But it wasn't a HUGE advantage, or the M3 would have easily been able to pass both cars on the very first straight.
In reality, the video proves that the M3 and G35/350Z are competitive on a road course. Assuming equal drivers in all 3 cars (which is a unlikely scenario), I doubt the M3 would have been able to blow away the other two cars even with an equal start. The only advantage the M3 had was the straights. In the turns, there were no clear advantages with ANY car.

Yes, the G35 did get some space in front of the M3, pretty much only when the M3 was unable to make a safe pass. The only other time that i saw a single car length lead for the G35 was into the sharp right turn, but it didn't amount to anything because at corner exit (where it matters), the Z and M3 were back on its ass and held up again.
And, the straight advantage was pretty significant. You don't pass instantly, I though the M3 was able to overtake the other cars in the straights well. They were short straights...

I bet the M3 would leave a lot of space in 4 laps from the front, and maybe a different driver...It's a good vid, though...

I guess you guys don't watch speed channel, or go to live sports car races. Because the M3 is a known giant killer. In IMSA show room stock races the M3 is in the same class as 8 litre vipers, 6 litre vettes, and v12 Ferrari's. On a regular basis the M3 beats all those cars. Just last week at Lime Rock Bill Aulberlin won from last place on the starting grid. He passed Saleen Mustangs, Vipers, Z06's, and twin turbo AWD Audi S6's. Then as if to make a point he won again the next day while it was raining. A time when the AWD Audi's should have had an advantage.
Trust me the M3 driver was making it look interesting. He could have taken them any time he wanted. In fact that is exactly what he did on the last lap of the video.

Some of you are making the M3 out to be a car that it isn't. A stock M3 SMG is close to a Z around a track. Look at the Road and Track article from a few months back. The Z BEAT the M3 around the track in the David vs Goliath article.
No one was holding back. Yes, the M3 has more power in the straights, but the Z/G35 handle better around the turns.

I've seen this article...It just doesn't make sense...The acceleration numbers are GROSSLY different, the skid pads are largely the same and the braking is largely the same...On a larger track, the M3 with a competent driver should eat the Z up...
