No roof mounted lightbar?
No roof mounted storage rack?

What else do you have planned for it?

Damn, ATXCLS that looks pretty clean for an 83... Of course I live in the rust belt, so we don't get to see many 25 y/o vehicles like that....

Don't be fooled, it has it's fair share of rust, not as much as y'all would have, but in the usual spots.

The first thing is to get it running right and well. It needs a lot of little things (thermostat, hoses, etc.). Although, it runs excellent considering that it has 225k miles on it
After that, time to fab up some new bumpers, and thenmaybe a spring over conversion. We will see. As it sits now, it has plenty of ground clearance.

I just got back from a trip to NE Arizona. Not really jeep related, but it was the first time I've had mine out in a while. It was pretty weird up there.

I did find a pretty sweet spot to drink some beers at 9500 feet elevation.

I realized I have never posted pics of my Jeep. Its an 87 4.2L Wrangler. It only has 39K miles on it !! My parents pretty much refuse to drive it and I am in college now so I don't get to drive it but the one weekend or so I am home a month!!
It started in Illinois from a family friend who only had it a year or so then passed away and gave it to my grandparents who used it as a snow plow and then they gave it to us a few years ago. NOTHING beats crusing around in it with the doors off and bikini top on. I tried to talk my parents into letting me take it to college for a month or so but they said they didn't think it was safe on the interstate
It doesn't see much wheeling cause I am always scared it is going to crap out on me in the woods, but it still gets some mud

Put in it 4lo, lock rear axle, drive froward. That post was 38" tall BTW.

Now that there are some miles on the lift, it flexes a lot better.

Here's a wheeling shot.

I'll look for more pics at home.

Good to see this thread still going

I love the lift. I'll be doing gears soon and that will help out a lot. Since the new lift, I've run Lower Terminator, Predator, Upper and Lower Raw Deal, and Log Corral. Nothing incredibly tough, but I'm still learning how to drive this thing and not roll it or dent it.

Of the above trails, log corral is the favorite and one that I'm sure I could get you through. We need a nice cloudy day or some rain though.

How's your rig coming along?

Good to see this thread still alive. Pretty much the reason I come back to these parts every now and then.

I just put on new steering. I went with the currie setup and would highly recommend.

Here's a pic from the last run Good thing it was only 105* at 7:30 am

If you're the dude changing the tire in this pict, we seriously could be lost twins. I looked at that picture and it was like seeing myself. I actually started pondering if I helped change a Jeep tire some where on a trail at some point. WTF? And you're in Phoenix too... freegin weird.

Ok guys, here's pics and specs of my new penis extension.....

Before w/2" of lift on 235/75R15:

After:

For fun...

The specs:

4" TeraFlex lift w/shocks
Quick disconnect's on front swaybar
Tom Woods driveshaft and SYE kit
Removed bumper endcaps/lower spoiler/ ft. fender flares
33x12.50R15 ProComp Xterrain tires
15x8 Jeep Ravines (same wheels w/spacers)

Thanks to all of you for checking it out, I'm pretty proud of it. Now it's time to do some trimming and put some lights and recovery on it.

Sorry I haven't been around to b/s with you guys in the past 6 months or so, work keeps me pretty busy. I hope all is well with all of you!

EDIT: Anyone know where I can find a cheap 33x9.50R15 tire online? I want one for a spare.

Oh, and Greenie, you'll be pleased to know Rusty went to a good home. The guy installed a new exhaust system, lift, wheels, and new tires. Looks pretty good I think. Unfortunately the dent was there when I sold it to him. Vandals...

PS: The sticker on the lower left back window of the Jeep is a ACURAZINE.COM sticker.

Pretty sick.

For lighting go with KC hilites. Not too expensive, 23 year warranty, and excellent lights.

Camera doesn't do any justice:

Those are 150 watt sealed beams, they throw a lot of light pretty far out (they claim 1.5 miles), and you can feel the heat of them a good few feet away. The downside to the sealed beams is that the filament shakes a little over bumps and stuff, doesn't effect light output or bulb life, but you can notice a little "movement" in the light pattern. They also make 130 watt Quartz Halogens, which you can always just buy a sealed beam bulb for in the future. Got the Manik grill guard on craigslist for 175 bucks (and spent another 30 or so stripping and spraying it). It masks most of my front end damage (which I opted not to repair anytime soon).

I know it is a jeep thread but thought I would contribute both for the lighting advice and just to give an update on my truck.

If I had to do it again, I would likely get a jeep. At some point I will probably sell this for one.

Mike

Thanks for the comments, Mike! The brush gaurd on the front looks pretty decent.

I actually plan to use Walmart Baja lights. A lot of people use them on the Jeep board and they say good things about them. They are only about $16 for a pair and they look good on the XJ. I plan to mount 4 of them on my roof.

The lights are probably all essentially the same. I just picked up 3 more lights today (craigslist, two more for the front, one for I dunno, but I got it free with a roof bar). 2 are the same ones I have, KC 150watt sealed beam, and one is some knockoff using quartz halogen. They all appear almost identical, I have taken them apart for paint and the differences are a few bolt sizes and the shock mounts(rubber compression disks) are molded a little different, between the KCs and the knockoff. Though in terms of the quality, I see no reason why one is superior to the other.

Cool pic, but I miss my CL at times. That Mo Fo would do 140 alot better than the TJ

The pic makes me miss the car. Sold it to a buddy who traded it for a Jetta

I had both at once, both almost paid for, and I kept the wrangler. Must say something about a wrangler

I guess I could buy a 2003 6spd cl now for 9 grand or so
