$45 Ford Tempo

There is a Tempo in the paper this week, $45, runs, but needs a battery. Who thinks I should pick it up, clean it up, and re sell it?

It's only $45 bucks. even if it doesn't run, what if you sell it to a junkyard for parts.

Sure it's not a typo? like $450, $4500? I see that all the time in the paper ads.

I'm going to buy it first

I thought the days of $50 cars were long gone, but this one sounds like it's worth at least taking a look at.

For $50, I think it might need alot more work then just a battery

It'll cost you more than $45 and a battery. You should get a mechanic to look at it which might cost you like $100.

Buy it, if the seller says all it needs is a battery, get it in writing. Get and new battery and if it starts, sell it to car max or piece it for parts, you'll get more than your money back.

Good idea...but it might be more fun to make it the cheapest project car ever! Rip the roof off, stick the cheapest possible mods on and and see how fast you can make this $45 car. I have a friend who made his own air intake for like $10 bucks.

Other than that, here are some ideas:
Donate it for a tax deduction
Donate it to a friend in need
Demo derby
Run it off a cliff
Sledge hammer

Just some thoughts.

Take it to a local parking lot along with a sledge hammer and advertise:

"Take out your frustation on this piece 'o crap"

Let people take a whack at it for $5 a whack or 2 for $7.50

This is also a great idea if you are involved in any type of organization that would like to raise money for charity. Get the car, park it, then charge like $5 a whack with a sledgehammer or pickaxe. Donate proceeds.

A fraternity or two did this a few times while I was in college, and it was a riot.
