$$$ GNX @ Barrett-Jackson
I always thought it would nice to have one of these, but this one's a little out of my price range.
At $165K, meet the most expensive Buick GNX ever sold

I just read that article before you posted it. Crazy money but incredibly low mileage. I knew a kid (douche actually) in college who had one. Amazing piece of machinery with absolutely tons of torque, but as I remember needed a better suspension (too soft)?

Somehow I'm not surprised. These things are getting rarer by the year. Especially ones in that good of condition. I predict that a small influx of rebuilds / restos will start to hit Barrett Jackson now that one fetched six figures.

As cool as the Grand National was, I can think of so many other cars I'd rather have for $165k
Yeah, the torque was awesome, yeah, the Turbo was cool, and yeah, the fact that it only came in black was pretty bad ass, but in the end, it's still just an 80's muscle car...

It's crazy what htese have done the last 8 years. GNX was the first car I ever drove, my dad and his best friend each bought one when they were released.

Its a GNX not your garden variety grand national.Hence the commanding price. Was 35k in 87.You can pick up a grand national for 8k-20k depending on condition. They made tons of grand nationals not the GNX.

This selling price reflects a car that was ridiculously rare in 87 when it was new and was essentially stored away straight from the dealer.

Always wanted a Cyclone too.
Agreed! I was a lot rat at a Buick dealership when I was 16. One of the salesman new how much I loved the car and let me take one for a drive, with him in the car of course. But it was still great!

There are some cyclones I see around
A guy who has a mint one. 38 original miles had a 1996 impala ss . He traded Impala for a new 2016 Chevy ss sedan with manual trans
His cyclone lives in the garage says that's his 401k

Yup agree with you about 401k but different people have different standard
His brother had a blood red first gen ford lightning with 7 miles
His dad made $$$$ by doing this with cars. He comes to cars and coffee

Absolutely love the GNX. That car was so nasty. It was the Grand National to end all Grand Nationals and was advertised as such.
The stock GN was between 235-245 hp in 87, the GNX was listed at 276 but was realistically between 300 and 350hp.
To you that think this is not a big deal, it WAS a big deal. This was 1987, and this car destroyed everything that was thrown at it. Chevrolet was less than pleased that a turbo v6 just blew the doors off its Corvette. Stock GNXs ran low 13s and sub 5 sec 0-60.
This engine made it into the 89 Turbo Trans Am and it is still the fastest T/A built.
Sorry, I'm an 80s kid. There was very little to be excited about when it came to cars during that decade. The GNX was something to be excited about!
165K is batshit crazy though! Makes you wonder if it'll actually be driven. Ever.
