Yes, it should be installed and tuned by someone in the know. However, if you have some mechanical knowledge and can follow instruction, you may be able to do it. If you had a shop do it, I would speculate the cost to be about 150.00 for the install and tune. The tune is not complicated for an experieced tech. An experienced tech could tune it in 10min.
As for any HP gains, it does not increase your HP, it only makes the existing HP come on line at an earlier RPM. The popular setting is to have VTEC engage about 500-800 rpm sooner. The peeps who have this setup on their cars like it.
Perhaps some of you guys with the VAFC2 could shed some light on your sucesses or failures on this product for our type of cars. Any CL/TL's out their have some input?
Rock On!

I think the VAFC2 is great! But if you are doing tuning anywhere other than on the dyno you are not helping yourslef out. Also, the popular idea of lowering the VTEC point is not always smart. Some cars benifit from it being raised or even just left alone!
There ARE HP gains that can be realized through the adjustment of the air/fuel ratio. The VAFC gives you that ability. With the addition of performance upgrades (intakes and whatnot) the air/fuel mixure can be optimized giving the most power possible from any given setup!
I agree that someone who knows what they are doing should perform this install. Basic skills needed, find computer, read wire diagram, splice/solder vafc wires into ecu wires, route VAFC wires, mount vafc.....basically, it is like installing a really complex stereo.
