comptech supercharger facts..

does anybody have the supercharger, if so how much faster does it go. can you feel a major difference? Give me your experience

0-60mph time? and once you have the supercharger what cars can you now take on as to when you couldnt take w/out the supercharger's power increase?

i am just wondering if anybody know the facts. Need some advice before i buy. is it worth it?

The car is different than before, more low end torque. I've never gone to the track for my times , but I know the car is definately faster. Modaddict posted a 13.xx time for the 1/4 mile. He drives a TL-S I think. I know I've given a few Mustangs and Camaros alittle suprise by taking them off the line (I'm not sure what year or engines they had). Overall I am extremely pleased with the supercharger, no regrets here.

Look up a member named "modaddict". He posted a time from the one time he went to the track w/his supercharged TL-S.

Hey, got pics of your S/C? How's your tranny holding up? How many miles did you have on your car before you put on the blower?

I had about 21k miles on the car with the original transmission, which is running fine. I will take some pics soon.

Good question, I guess only time will tell. I've never owned a blown car, until now. The only maintenance due on the blower would be to change the oil in the gear set every 70k miles.

I do not believe the tranny is an issue. It is well documented that it is defective on N/A cars, let alone blown cars. Will it reduce the life? Maybe but you still have your 100K warranty which should be honored. The dealer would have to prove it was the increase in power that did the tranny in and we all know (and they do to) it sucks anyway.

The car has taken on a new life with the SC! It really fills in the lack of low end torque and when VTEC hits with the SC, it is an awesome feeling

The gear set is the internals of the blower unit. It is sealed but the fluid needs to be changed at 70Kmiles. That's the only maintenance besides buying tires sooner

I have a little bit over 50,000 miles on my car. Would I have any problems with the S/C?

I heard it's actually better to install a blower system on a car that has been loosened up (has some miles on it). I'm not saying to go out and supercharge a car with 150k miles, but 50 should be fine. My car had 22k miles at the time of its "awakening,". Like TopGum said this thing makes low end torque, I can't wait to line up with a G35 or 350z, I'm sure the other driver will get a big surprise. I'm sure I can put some distance off the line so I wouldn't even have to go to 115 mph to prove my point. Trust me, it's worth the money!

Basically the car has a quicker take off from a complete stop. Torque is defined as "a force that tends to rotate or turn things," as stated at http://science.howstuffworks.com/fpte3.htm. A supercharger gives the engine an increase in torque from off idle conditions to redline (from an idle, then stepping on the throttle). With an increase in low end torque you get quicker acceleration at the low end, or at the lower rpm range of the engine. Check out: How Stuff Works at http://science.howstuffworks.com/fpte3.htm .

just curious.

I am planning on getting the supercharger for m 2002 TLS, I will get the tranny cooler and the Redline ATF high performance fluid. It is recommended by comptech, I dont think they are just recommending to make some money. I had to replace my tranny at 30k. Kinda pissed at that, the other one used to chirp second.

Don't get a $150 trans. cooler from Comptech, you can get the same thing for $50 from Jeg's online. You will have to buy about 12 feet of hose and use your own imagination to mount the cooler. Well worth the savings of $100. After the install re-check your fluid level.
