ATTN: all CL/TLers with navi

if any of you guys are selling your cars soon, I'd drop a pretty penny to switch out our dashes and climate control and of course the navi system. I'm desperate for one. Preferably in TX, Louisiana, or Oklahoma. I could drive there and we could do all the work on getting everything perfect in both cars.

It can't be done...practically that is...you must replace just about every wire harness in vehicle. Also the gyro and yaw sensors in the trunk. It's not as easy as you think it is...and I don't think anyone would want their ENTIRE car to be taken apart to make some dough. You'd be better off buying the pioneer or alpine navi or just selling ur car and buying one w/ navi.

There would be no possible way to explain it other than to say that it can't be done...The entire dashboard and instrument cluster wire harness, stereo system and amplifier wire harness, complete trunk harness, gyro sensor and yaw rate sensor in trunk which tells the satelittes above the excat position of the car and whatever turns you make, etc....By the way...these harness are tapped into the ecu harness which means you will probably have to change the ecu and complete engine wire harnesses also. There's definitly alot more but I don't have a wire diagram of everything....TRUST ME....DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME....IT CAN'T BE DONE!!!!Even a junkyard would'nt let you do that to a car...also if you replace your ecu...it has to be programmed to your immobilizer system so your keys work, which means you have to tow your car to a dealer afterwards and explain to them why another vin #'s ecu is in your car...and then your entire warranty will be shot forever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

really? there's no way of just wiring it into the current ECU? I thought all the navigation "brains" was in the navi unit. I'll look into it more, I've found a junkyard that'll let me take whatever I want from this wrecked CL. Maybe I'll go to the dealer and beg for a diagram.

I'd do aftermarket but it'd be so much more expensive b/c I'd have to replace my whole sound system. The speakers won't run right on an aftermarket combo NAvi/Headunit thing. Damn Bose crap. This factory unit from the junkyard with the screen only costs me $400, the rest of the stuff I'm sure won't cost more than $600 to take off of their wrecked CLS. Even if it costs me 800 that still only totals out to be $1200...

$1200 isn't even the amount of a navigation brain for one of those aftermarket headunits (which at cheapest start at $900). I'm looking at a $900 savings here.

If I can find a good deal on a navi/headunit combo aftermarket then I'll be all over it. Something around the price of $1500...

Any ideas?

THe dealer told me they wouldn't even consider this mod to a non-Navi, the service manager refuses to do it, major rebuild of the car.
