I love my TL-S. Everytime I park it, I do a triple take while walking away. Hate parking next to people. And ESPECIALLY hate it when people have a whole bloody lot and they park next to my car. I mean cmon!
Anyway, I digress... it really depends what you want out of a car man. Its generally accepted here that an 07-08 6MT Base TL will put roughly the same power down as a 5AT TL-S so if its just power you're looking for that may be a good way to go.
There is a lot to consider. Maybe you should give us more info on what you're looking for in a car, and we can tell you if the TL-S worth it.
Personally, I drooled over the TL-S since back in the days when I was beating my 2000 GS-R (which is really not that long ago... now that I think about it). I could have sprang for a IS250, 328i, g35... but I had my heart set man. I wanted it. I wanted it bad. I wanted to wine it, dine it and take it home. I wanted it like a fat kid wants cake. I-I digress again... What are you looking for?

Loool! My friend owns a 2008 and he seems to be in love with it, kind of just like you!! He slammed the car 3 inches off the ground, he has teinz coil overs and all around acura body kits, 21's summer tires and he blacked out all his lights and all I can say is that it looks sick! I love it.. Well as me, power is exactly what I'm looking for.. And I'll probably get my friend to help me modify the car!! So what do u think?
