Who has a superzoom?
Everyone around here seems to have a DSLR, wondering if anyone else has a superzoom non DSLR (12-24x optical zoom).
Around new years I finally replaced my Olympus C765 4MP 10x optical zoom, 2gb xD with a Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ35 12.1MP 18x optical zoom, 16gb class 4 SD.
I can't be more happy with this upgrade. I'd like to see if anyone else here decided against going DSLR.

Use whatever you get the best results from!
If a Kodak Disc camera is the one you get an award winning shot from, great! If it's a Leica, cool.
Let's see some pics!

The best camera is the one you have on you at the time.
Why the aversion to DLSRs?

Superzooms are one of the best reasons to not get a DSLR.
Having a DSLR superzoom would be completely obnoxious.
It always blows people's minds when I tell them that my giant 70-200 is less than a 6x zoom.

no superzoom here. it defeats the purpose of a DSLR and doesnt give superior IQ relative to other lenses (most notably primes).
if i wanted a camera with a superzoom, id get a smaller point and shoot from the Powershot line or something like that.

I wish I had the time and/or discipline to learn the art of photography. I lurk in the photography sub-forum and have seen some AMAZING stuff from you guys. But for now I'll have to live with just pointing and shooting!

I took a digital photography class with my Olympus but the class was totally too advanced for my camera. I'm very happy with the Lumix, I did roughly 12 hours of non stop research and it came down between the lumix and the brand new Cannon that does 24x zoom, but all my photographer friends were like "the Lumix has a Leica lens? Def get that" It ended up being $300, and I got a a bunch of accessories. Came out to like $480 out the door.

I recently got a Tamron 28-300 VC, it's let me get some shots I would never have been able to get otherwise. I am pretty happy with it. Good deal, too.
