who doesn't like Nemo? (the fish)

No its not nemo cut up into sushi bits.

I went with a friend, to take a picture of this guys tank, hes on Manhattans reef. So i gave a few tries in taking fish pictures.

Nikon d300
50mm 1.4
18-200 + sb800
all shot in raw to fix white balance.

Any pointers or tips from any of you guys.

This is an expensive hobby i was pretty amazed at some of the stuff i learned that day.
Well here are the pictures there's about 60 of them i selected the few that i liked the best.

This guy spent about 10,000 on it eventually he got everything right and the tank looks great, but he said he failed a few times where he got red algae and fungus all over the place.

You got some great shots of the fish, the anemones and the coral. Those are some pretty awesome tanks, especially since everything is natural.

Wow, I am amazed at the quality of the pictures. Virtually NO reflections, and all good lighting. Very nice.

You have to REALLY love SW tanks to go though that kind of effort....

Yea can you believe people spend so much money on it, but it eventually can pay on its own. Some guy they were talking about makes 300 bucks in a few weeks in selling coral and anemones.

I had some trouble with the lighting at first but corrected in raw.

Some shots with the reflection was just cuz i had to get the two clown fishes together.
Only one of them really loves his mushroom. The other hides hah..

My friend had a damsel like dori, but he said it died and good thing cuz it kept eating his other fish lol...

Those tanks are BADASS! The coral alone in that first tank probably cost $5000.

sweet pics too

Nice pics. How long did you have the shutter open for the second pic?

Man that is a hell of a setup! I hope that dude never has to move.

The long exposure was roughly 20 seconds or so. Just thought i'd do something silly since you know fishes don't stay still.

opps just realized your talking about the 2nd blue one i think it wasn't much
1/10th second

I love tanks like those. You had some great shots in there, too. I'd love to have a sw tank, but man are they ever a lot of work (and expensive!)
