What's your style?
Me: I love shooting candids or things I stumble upon, rather than setting a scene. I'm also a sucker for tight crops, repetition/patterns, abstract, and small details.
I guess you could classify me as mostly a candid-type/spontaneous photographer.

Not sure what I classify myself as..
I guess I'm much more of a City/Street kinda guy. (Something Maryland lacks of by far) Which is why I love California. So many details you can capture within block of street

I've been told my style is very like yours, and by that description, I would agree. The way I look at the detail shots, is finding something beautiful in things others walk by without noticing. Asking them to see it in a different way.

We really do shoot a similar style. I love candid people/animals shots too. Aside from those, we actually shoot some of the same subject matter too. In other words,
What's cool about Dan and I is that we shoot completely different kinds of pics. Proof was the 30 GB of photos we took on our honeymoon.....we were at the same places, but came home with some very different shots.

I don't know if that makes sense... but in a nutshell, although I haven't posted many of my photos for you to see, I can tell you that we'd have a really cool time shooting together (except we'd probably be pushing each other out of the way to get the same shot).

Hey baby, shoot here often? But seriously, I do wish you'd post your pics more often. I've really enjoyed the few you have posted. I think we have a similar sense of composition, as well. Your framing always makes sense to me. If that makes sense.

Yeah, sorry...I actually really do want to hear how people describe their style of photography, but the thread isn't really attracting many responses.
For Dan's hero story, do a Ramblings search for threads by Dan Martin, with the words "broke" and "nose".

Ok...really done now.

I admit, it's been hard taking photos with my rebel because I feel like I have a NEED to shoot something and I don't like the feeling of forcing something. As much as I love my rebel, it's easier for me to shoot with my phone.
But when I do use my rebel, I definitely take advantage of it! I like taking shots of urban decay. There's something about the grit and garbage you see on the street where that draws me in. I like the fact that I can take a shot of something very unfortunate looking and make it BEAUTIFUL!
And I like shooting with people sometimes because when we go out shooting iwh one person or a group, we all have a different take or sometimes similar take on things that we shoot! I love the different interpretations and perspectives! I have a quote that kind of goes along that which I use for my photo site.
I also like taking pictures of people. I like posing them and capturing them in a certain way. I pretty much like every style! Anything that excites and inspires me!
I don't know, I kinda go in phases. I guess I'm still feeling it out.
I may take a hundred or so sunsets and landscapes the next month, and the month after that I may just shoot objects within 10 feet of my room. If family is around I may try my hand at portraits.
I have had my pictures described as "lifeless", "dull", and "brown". though. So I guess that is a style.
I kinda thought the person who said that was an ass, but looking at the majority of pictures I take I see what he means. Unless it's family I shy away from taking pictures of people. Also I live in a desert city where it isn't that easy to stumble upon animals, and the plant life pretty much consists of silhouetted cactus against a sunset or palo verde trees unless it is monsoon season.
So there, I came up with a excuse for lifeless and brown. I will have to work on dull though.

Very generally, I would say, "vivid". Although I like lots of styles that's probably what I do the most. Lots of contrast - darks, lights, colors.
to the OP - I really love candids too, I often get my best shots 2 or 3 frames before or after a posed shot - when I'm just prepping for the scene. This applies anywhere. I'm gonna post a few of my favs from the past year in the Infected Mushroom thread

Well for those to lazy to search here's the link https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...ght=broke+nose
Originally I was thinking this was at Upper Canada Mall (SS+Dan will understand the locality) myself I'm certainly over weight, 250@6" and would have done the same thing, only exception is he'd be lucky if it was just a broken nose, hell my roomate (6,2" 170ish, Rugby player too boot) broke his wrist punching my shoulder. Nice work Dan, I hope that loser ended up behind bars.

I'm a lens cap photographer. I have some of the best shots of lens caps you'll ever see. It is amazing all the different angles you can get.
I'll try to post some later.

In all seriousness, I like nature, primarily landscapes. Also with my 9 month old son I've turned into a fairly decent children's photographer. I'm much better at capturing images of him than my wife and she's the one with years of photography experience.

You fail! I was just down in Tucson for court and I realized that I have found the one thing I like about Tucson, ITS DAMN PHOTOGENIC!
So many homeless people, I hit them with sticks every time I am there...Great for that "life is hard" photo, or the hard luck dude next to the lexus...
So much old west architecture, sometimes right next to a shiny modern building...
Weird random sculpture all over the city. In front of the library, all over downtown... Park downtown at the Holiday Inn (Congress East of I-10) for $6 and just walk around and get lost.
Pull over on Alvernon north of Ajo and take pictures of A-10s on approach from about 30 feet away!
All in all, some great urban photos to be had in Tucson. I actually am planning to go back and take pictures, and I hate going back to Tucson!
Are you suggesting I actually go outside? I don't know if I like that.
Also there are a couple little neighborhoods downtown to park in that don't have parking restrictions, just in case you are a cheapskate like me.
