Does anyone here shoot in IR?
I just got my hands on a pentax k10d and wanted to get into IR shooting. Does anyone have any experiance with this type of photography enough to recomend a good IR filter????
I just got into it in October with a Hoya R72. I've been waiting for it to get a little greener outside for me to do some more work with it.
It's not easy because the filter is nearly opaque to visible light, so you have to compose the scene without the filter, then screw the filter on before you shoot. Metering is hit-and-miss too, and your exposures will be very long.
I don't know much about how well the K10D responds to IR, so you'll have to do some research there. The other thing is not all lenses are "IR friendly. Every lens has coatings and dampers to prevent light from bouncing around inside, but those coatings are usually just optimized for visible light. If the lens isn't IR friendly, then you'll end up with a large hot spot in the center of the frame. I know of websites that list IR friendly lenses for Nikon and Canon, but I don't know of any for Pentax, so you'll have to do some digging there too...

Cool! Are you going with Lifepixel, and if so, what conversion will you be doing? I like the false colour, but most of the time I prefer the high contrast B&W look. I'd have a hard time choosing...
