Well, that was embarassing...

Just had to go to the camera repair place and have them remove a CPL filter from my 70-200...

The front part rotates freely and has the easily grabbable knurling on the ring.

The back part is the threaded part and has exactly one nanometer of knurling to try to get grip on.

How the hell I managed to torque this thing on so tightly is beyond me, but the nice guy at Tempe Camera Repair said he has a special wrench for people like me... Then he said something completely different about a tool, and I left in shame.

It's happen to me before, but never had to go somewhere to get it off. Hot and cold, expand and contract. Hold it in front of a a/c vent if it happens again.

i heard using a rubber band can help get a grip on them too.
