Weather Proof Camera Bags?

So I'm going to Hawaii for my honeymoon and I definitely want to bring back as many pictures as I can. But with that being said, I don't want to ruin any of my camera gear. Are regular camera bags good enough? I'm not submerging the bag into water or anything, just I'll be bringing it on a kayak/raft and it might get a few splashes here and there.

Is a fully water/weather proof camera bag overkill for this situation?

like for keeping your gear dry when it rains?

I have 4 Lowepro bags (of different sizes) and 3 of them are "AW" which stands for "All Weather"...if it starts to rain, there's a cover that you can pull out, then stow away when not needed. Without the cover, they are still water repellent to a certain extent... but if it starts raining hard, the cover has saved me several times... (and I live in Vancouver now, so yeah... it's a necessity).

Oh very nice! I love the extra cover to keep it dry.

I was looking at the LowePro Dryzone and was with the price.

the DryZone is the one you can submerge in water, right? Yeah, unless you plan on going kayaking with your gear, it's overkill.

+1 for the LowePro AW bags.

However if you're going to be on a kayak I'd look into a dry bag to hold the camera while you're on the boat. Should be able to pick one up for $20-$30

If I fall off the kayak I'll make sure to grab the camera bag and lift it in the air......The life jacket can take care of my wife

Werd.

You can pick one up at REI. best of both worlds and be double safe.
