Watermarks

How do I create them? The gallery I'm using to build my website will add one to photos automatically if I upload it...

Thanks!

Thanks for the link, Jup. I don't want to go in and add one to each photo individually, though. The software has an option to only add it to the larger images, so I'm wondering if I can create a file that's just the watermark. I thought I had it figured out, but it didn't have the transparent background.

You can set up an action in PS to do it automatically.

Take a look at the link http://www.freetimefoto.com/photosho...watermark.html

right below step six there is an action for d/l.

Here is another one...

I'm explaining it poorly.

The template to build the site (gallery2) allows you to import a watermark file that it will apply to photos as you choose. You can add to thumbnails and resizes, or just the full size files, or any combination thereof. I don't want duplicates of every photo with a watermark on my hard drive.

<a href="http://s196.photobucket.com/albums/aa119/docmoxie/?action=view&current=Picture2.png" target="_blank"><img src="http://i196.photobucket.com/albums/aa119/docmoxie/Picture2.png" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>
Given the above option, I have to assume it's possible. I've tried a couple of different things in PS, but even when I put text on a transparent background and save it as a jpg, it turns into a white background.

A jpeg cannot be saved with transparency. Try a gif instead.

The gif apparently bugged every file I uploaded, now none of them show even after deleting the watermark. "Without affecting the original" my ass. I think I have to delete and re-upload over 100 files. I hate computers. I suck at them.

That sucks. Sorry to hear. I don't have any specific experience with the backend software you're using.

But I can create the transparent gif for you if you need help. We can test it on an isolated set of pics first.

I got the gif to be a pretty watermark - it just didn't get along with the software I'm using, I think. Was thinking of trying a tif?

But I'm

OK. Finally have it figured out, at least for this software package. PNG files maintain the transparency of not only the background, but also the text layer if you've adjusted it. PNG FTW!!!

Thanks for the suggestions.
