Washington DC: Cherry Blossom Festival Photography
MODS, please move to appropriate section. I felt this thread was most pertinent here.
From going off the thread in Off-Topics
https://acurazine.com/forums/ramblings-12/anyone-ever-go-cherry-blossom-festival-overrated-386266/
It seemed like there was an interest for some folks to get together and go see the Cherry Blossoms and take some pics.

SOOOO.........
Just wanted to see if there was any interest for folks to get together to take some pictures of the cherry blossom's and the festivities. I for one am a noob and could use pointers and lessons, and what better way to do that than at the Cherry Blossom festival.
I'm also planning on attending some cultural events in Union Station so it will be a great chance throughout the week to meet up and take some indoor and outdoor shots...
So let's hear it? Anyone?

Anyone in?!
My husband and i (possibly along with 2 friends) plan on going in the next week or so. It'd be great to meet up with people.
Husband is all about photography. He'll be bringing his D300, 12-24mm and 70-200mm.

This is your best one of the 10
I would play with the processing of this one a bit. Try and tone back the greens and brown just a hair, while kicking up the magenta/reds a bit. Really try and make the blossoms pop.

Nice, Jup! Looks like you had some good weather, too. I'm planning to go out on Wednesday. I hope the rain doesn't damage them too much between now & then.

I might go back down there Wednesday, if the rain doesn't do a lot of damage in the next couple of days. I got up at 630 to down there yesterday, I drove, when I got there couldn't find a place to park. Drove back into Va. to wear we had Ramblings party and caught Metro back into DC.

Dan,
Thanks, I'll have to go back and change that. It was late I was just pushing buttons. I got up at 630 to go down there, walked around for about 4 hours or so, and have a few more pics of the rest of the Monuments to PP.
I only used the 24-105 on my 40D to take all of the pics, my 5D is at Canon getting cleaned.

I'd be interested in going this Saturday... probably late afternoon is best, as the harsh mid-day sun is hard to get great photos out of. Before dinner is good?
I'm shooting with a Nikon D300 and 12-24, 70-200, 50mm lenses. I'd be glad to talk shop or let AZ folks try out my gear.
Anyone on flickr or attend any photography events in the area? I wanted to go on Jeff Revel's photowalk pro walk but missed it and regret it!
I keep a blog at http://www.jonvandalen.com/newblog if anyone's interested. My flickr is at http://www.flickr.com/photos/tzakiel

Nice shots Jeff.
I was at the Kite Festival on Sat but didn't get a chance to get to the tidal basin. Five year-olds legs just aren't up to that kind of hiking. I was hoping to go again on Sun but the light didn't seem to be cooperating.
I'm carrying my gear in my car right now in case I get some time to sneak away from work and run down there if the conditions present themselves. Definately not today though.
If anyone finds themselves heading that way shoot me a message, maybe we could meet.

oh btw that was with the Nikon 18-200 VR. it's his first DSLR, and he hadn't been into photography much at all, prior to getting it. I'd say he's doing OK.

Srika, he has a wonderful eye, for what seems obvious, but comes out unique. Please tell him to continue to shoot those same shots....they're great
