Want to replace my 20D
So, it's been collecting dust lately, my iphone has become my main camera for about 2-3 years.
I'm ready to get back into things again with the kids growing so fast.
I'm looking for something that's better then my 20D, but also don't want to spend much, maybe $500 for a body only. I don't mind buying used at all.
Video would also be nice.
What do you guys recommend? Would a Rebel T5 be an upgrade? Should I go and spend some more then I'm planning and do a 70D? or maybe a 60D?

Man, I just sold my 60D for $500, with a spare battery and all the stuff that came OEM with it.
I agree with Jup, the Rebel line will feel like cheap crap (I had a Rebel XS before the 60D).
The 60D was a pretty good camera, if you're wanting it for taking pics of the kids, I think it would do well, the buffer performs well and it has plenty of focus points.
However, it does shoot video but will not autofocus. The 70D will autofocus with video.
If you want to compare cameras, I find this site to be pretty helpful.

I have to respectfully disagree with you good sirs.
I heavily used a T3i up until last month. Tons of shoots/mileage/full day shoots...I'd say for someone using it to take pics around the shop and use a few times a month, the T5i is more than enough camera. Not as bulky or weather sealed like the higher end models, but its lighter as a result. Focusing speed is a moot point when comparing the T5 with other models as well. Sure the pricier cameras will do it faster, but off paper its quick enough to where you wont miss many shots. Granted I didn't try and capture birds in a split second, I'm at the track twice a month and can lock on to a car doing 150 in a split second.
Try not to get lost in latest greatest. The T5i is solid enough for most. I personally though the t3 was light years ahead of the 40d it replaced.
For reference, every shot on my website in the gallery was with the T3i.
