Uv Lens off Ebay?

Yesterday I purchased one 58mm UV Lens from my local Ritz Camera for $30.00

I notice on Ebay a seller has for sale a UV lens and two filters all for about $17.00

My question is, how good do you think these one will be compared to my $30 UV Lens? I honestly think I got took.

The UV Lens I got from Ritz is made by Quantaray and it says Professional filter series

Here is the one on Ebay I been eyeing:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...%3D4%26ps%3D42

What's your take? Should I return the one I got from Ritz?

Thanks

I think these are all filters - i.e. no lenses.

FWIW, if you put cheap glass (even the ones from Ritz) it will likely degrade your image quality. There was a thread about filters not too long ago.

Opps I mean filters. Oh ok, I was told to use the UV filter the filter also to protect the lens from scratches ect and it would not degrade to qualtiy.

So your not a fan of them?

Quantaray is Ritz and Wolf Cameras private label. I think you'll be OK with the quality of them. But to save yourself some money is the future don't shop with them, they are overpriced. For little things check out amazon.com, you can get most of the items shipped free.

If you get some real good glass and want good filters, I suggest B&W F Pro filters, or Hoya Pro 1 filters.

just get your filters from adorama.com or bhphotovideo.com ...when it comes to camera stuff, ebay is full of people selling stuff at discounted prices...everything may look good, but their stuff is mostly crap...

i bought my Nikon (circular polarizer) and B+W (neutral density) filters from adorama.com...B+W are sweet!

Honestly, I have never used one. I do want to get a couple of filters, but would get better filters than the ones you bought of the one's you're talking about from ebay. A good filter will cost >$50 for 58mm and usually a bit more.

It doesn't make sense to spend $100s or $1000s on a lens and put a cheap piece of plastic or glass in front of it.

There are two sites that were discussed on here recently. IIRC, they are:
www.hvstar.net
www.2filters.com
