Any thoughts out there on the new DSLR Sony A700?

I have an opportunity to pick one up for a heavy discount ($800 for the A700Kit) and wondering how this stacks up to the 40D or even the 30D.

Anyone know if there are good lens upgrades for this? Haven't been able to read anything about higher quality lenses (comparable to the Canon L-Series) for these Sony alphas.

I am still learning myself but I think the lens selection won't be as good as Canon or Nikon.

 

I'm thinking of picking one up also... if you don't mind me asking where are you getting it for 800.00?

There is a good forum about the Sony A700 google dyxum and all your questions will be answered. From what I read it favors well aganist the 40D.

About the lenses.. Sony has the Carl Zess(sp) line as well as there "G or SSM" class. The older Konca Minolta "G" lenses also fit the Sony.
