Some nikon cls stuff

So i've been trying to get the most out of nikon cls.

nikon d300
2 sb800 1 sb600
2 tripods 1 is my friends with a softbox if needed sometimes.

It works real great indoors, but outside we push it to its limits. It sometimes fire in line of sight but as long as we turn the face towards us its pretty dead on. Its a bit harder to pass through my windshield.
Let me knwo what you think were both poor college students slowly grabbing money to get better gear or more flashes so instead we combined what we have. His 40d and his two flashes with mine and some triggers.

middle flash didn't go off so i tried switching it around and then security after 2 hrs told us we had to leave and no pictures allowed.

this was a series of shots to photoshop me in the car.
4 second exposure and we took all our flashes and blasted the car up and down it at 1/16
then he took the best shot and motion blurred the backgrounds.

my friends stuff he borrows my sb800 when i'm with him and uses optical slave.

the ebay triggers lasted a pretty good time for 50 bucks, but hes moving up to alienbee cybersyncs. Theres a student discount if you show them proof its 10% off.

Some cool shots. The last one and some of the engine shots are really nice.

However, many of the shots don't really "seem" strobist, at least not as I've seen it done. Not saying there is a right and wrong way, just that most shots I've seen have been done to balance out the lighting on the subject and background. The only shot that looks strobist (to me) is the second to last one.

Try some people shots out in the bright sun, using the strobes to allow you to underexpose the sky.

Yea i'm still working on it sb600 really doesn't work well with cls it needs direct line of infered outside. Unlike the sb800 which are able to take a bit more of a distance or angle.

I'll try keep it in mind haven't played alot due to weather in bufalo has been below 20 past few weeks.

Nyc right now is 40-50 atleast.
