Recommendations for a good camera bag

Now that I have upgraded to the D7000, I want to upgrade my bag. I will most likely end up going to the camera shop I got the camera and looking through what they have in stock, but wouldn't mind some recommendations from you guys. I do not really like the backpack style. I may regret on the occasional city trip, but most of the time I don't require one. I would like to be able to fit all my lenses, which isn't too many. I mainly shoot with two at the moment, but have about 5. I would also like to be able to fit the D60 in there as well if I can. I am giving that to my girlfriend to learn on, but when we both go out shooting, we will take one bag, and I will use it as a backup at times.

I was looking at something like this, but am not sure if there is something better, or possibly something a little cheaper.

I don't mind spending that, but never shy away from a good bargain either. So any recommendations?

Man, buying a camera bag is like women and purses. I've been through at least 10 of them. But still have the first backpack that I bought, I have two of them. LowePro Computrek Plus.

The little bag to carry just a body and a couple of lenses are the hard one to find that you'll like.

check out

www.thinktankphoto.com these are bags made buy photographers.

www.crumpler.com

Then there is temba, tamarac, kata and so many others.

Good luck because finding one you like will be hard.

I have always been a lowepro fan.

And like Jupiter, I have tried others (still in the lowepro line) and I always come back the original one I bought...it just works the best.

Although now, I am trying to find something easy to use that can also carry my mamiya with the D3...that is proving difficult. I might have to just work with two separate cases.

your best bet is going to be, take all the lens' that you are hoping to carry in this bag to the store with you, then see which one you like best.

I would recommend picking up a backpack at some point though. Its a great way of storing/transporting all of your gear as your arsenal grows. When I go to my inlaws weekend house in NH, I will usually load everything into the pack, then strip the bag down to a reasonable weight, or pick from it and load up a smaller bag depending on what Im doing day to day.

I have the two lowepro bags; one for the D3 and it's lenses and one for the D300 and it's lenses.

How often do you take both at the same time?

At this point I am shooting my rb67 in conjunction with my D3. And my biggest concern is airline...I hate check my gear if I dont have to. But I guess if I get a pelican for the rb...I can check that...if it gets borked, it wasnt that much of an investment to begin with...I dont know.

depending on how much gear you have, and what you're doing.

imo over the shoulder FTL.

gets very tiring after some time.

Never, it's one or the other and nine out of ten times it's the FX bag. Oh, I also have a Pelican case, forgot about that one. It's a 1510. Surprising a lot of room in it, two bodies and about five or six lenses.

I have two, the Lowepro Slingshot 300AW and the Crumpler 7MDH. I like the Lowepro as an airline carry-on as I think it gives better protection. However I like the Cumpler for out and about when I don't need to carry everything.

The lowepro I use was designed to fit right into a pelican 1550 (which I have back in LA.)

I'm just out of room for the Mamiya because the body is so big. And having a prism finder makes it bigger. So I need to find a solution. I was actually thinking about the 1510 but I'm not sure it's deep enough and of course I can't find a place in Detroit that sells pelican cases.

I spent some time last night looking online at some of these recommendations. I liked what I was reading but it was kinda hard to figure out what I wanted without physically trying out the bag. I ended up stopping in at the shop I bought my camera today since I was down in that area. I ended up picking up a Tamrac 5608 Pro 8. I really liked all the room in at least one of the backpack style bags, but in the end, I figured I don't need a backpack. I do not go walking around with the camera all that much. It would come in handy on those occasions I do go into a the city or something, but that is VERY rare that I will do that. I am not that flexible and would find it annoying to take the bag off in order to get the camera out. So for now, I am happy with this bag. Thank you for the suggestions though, I just couldn't pull the trigger on something I couldn't try out first.

It's best for what you need. I never liked those big shoulder/side bags, don't like that they keep all of the weight to one side.

I never take my backpack into the city unless Im driving from location to location. If Im walking, I'll plan what I need out of it and throw that into my lowepro, then my tripod in its carrier and head out.

I have a lowepro nova 200. So far I have my Sony A700, 50 f1.7, 17-50 f2.8, 70-210 (beercan), 100 f2.8 macro, 8mm fisheye, and flash in individual sections. Still have room for
2.5 more lenses (.5 = stacking two short on top of each other), or another body and one lens. Can't complain for $55.00 on ebay.
