Raw format dims?

So whenever I load a raw picture its pretty and vibrant then it finishes loading and it dims...what the hell is doing this? It looks nothing like the viewfinder...well at first it does then it finishes loading and boom its dim...FUCK! How do I stop this or how do I get it back to its original preload.

Lightroom

But I open it with photoshop and same deal except it comes in dull right away. I have noticed it with shooting Jpeg vs. Raw.

Jpeg my pictures look how they looked when I took them

Raw looks dim

I am sure there is something I have to do in raw processing but its quite annoying. I end up adjusting the exposure or light or other stuff to make it look the way it did originally.

Do you have anything checked in: Edit -> Preferences -> Presets (Tab)?
Maybe you are appying adjustments to your pictures automatically. That's what it sounds like.

Welcome to the world of what your eyes "see" vs. what the camera sensor "sees." If you're going to shoot raw, you should expect to have to do levels and/or curves on your own just like you have to sharpen on your own.

Just as the camera is applies sharpening, levels, and curves when it makes a jpeg file, so to do the Adobe applications when they generate previews. I'm pretty sure there's a preference in camera raw to turn this off in PS, not sure about Lightroom.
