quick test shot of the 10-22
If you want to avoid the sloped line effect, try to hold the camera level to the ground.
It helps a lot, especially if people are on the sides.
The 10-22 is a ton of fun, I love the ultra wide effect.
Here's one I took recently:

we have been renovating the house for the past 2 years, that's the finished kitchen... I'll have to share pics of the rest of the house once the artwork and minor things are done. This wide angle also makes it easier to post rooms and what not... I really wanted new Cabinets, but could not justify dumping those. The quality of the oak is amazing... so we just replaced the hardware.
Congrats!
I use the 10-22 almost exclusively for my real estate photography. I bought it for doing interiors, but it is very effective for shooting exteriors as well if you use it properly.

of course you can have fun with it too.

And unless I missed something, you still have a D300, correct??
So technically, you aren't even utilizing the full potential of the lens, which is saying something because it's still very wide and awesome looking shots!

i love wides....I went w/ a tokina 12-24 though, so not quite as wide, but still a lot of fun.
Sold it, now i'm debating if I want ridiculously wide w/ a sigma 12-24, or just 17-40 (full frame, leaning towards the L) . But I probably shouldn't spend any more money until at least after christmas anyways.

Am I thinking of CCC maybe???
EDIT: Damn it. No. I was thinking of the 14-24mm.

I dunno about you, but I can't seem to remember not to include straight lines near the edges of the frame with the 10-22. Every time I do, I get the tilting lines!... You don't seem to have this issue. I suck.
^ Well, it could have been better to be honest. But my method comprises of selecting the entire image and "straightening" it outby tilting/rotating the image. Then further crop.
I rented the 10-22 for my trip to California last year and I didn't find myself using it very often and I wasn't really happy with how the shots I took came out. It was the first time using the lens and I'm sure it was just me not using the lens properly in terms of what I was shooting and how I was framing the shots. I likely didn't give myself enough time with it as I also rented the 70-200 F/2.8L for the trip and fell in love with it.
Here's 2 shots with the 10-22

I did like how this one turned out but it is at 22mm:

it's taking some getting used to for me, but I REALLY like it.
It was the only lens I took to Barrett Jackson for the cars, knowing there was never enough room to really get far enough back with all the people.

hence the disclaimer.

Alas, there's always one more lens out there that you want but don't have... isn't that the truth?
