The 4IS is tack sharp, I'm glad I got it. The 2.8IS does a good job as well. The shots I posted up Sunday Night and Monday on the "My Saturday Morning" thread were taken with the 4IS. All but the obvious w/a shots.

I didn't mention that I have the 2.8 IS and it is sharp, though sometimes it seems like it isn't that much. I was mostly wondering if you thought the 4IS was sharper.

jupitersolo 07-24-2008 03:03 PM

I think so, when I took the fist shot with it, I was a little giddy how sharp it was.

My 17-55 f/2.8 IS should be arriving tomorrow. I'm trading in another lens for it, although I'm only going to get around $110 for it, but at least that's something.

Mizouse 07-30-2008 09:35 AM

 you're going to like that lens. I love mine.

LuvMyTSX 07-30-2008 09:50 AM

I hope so. I had to think it over a lot before shelling out the money since I just paid in full for my vacation to Cabo, but I really want a good set of lenses to take with me for that trip. So I pulled the trigger last night and should have it by this weekend so I can play with it.

Congrats on the lens. Nice and sharp with the constant f/2.8. What's not to like? :chuckle:

And to edit this...not sure I'm loving mine...I'm curious/hoping Samys might let me bring it back for credit.

If not, I can certainly live with it, but I dont LOVE it.

I have the 200AW, but no, as I can't fit the 40D with 70-200 attached in it, or in my Tamrac Adventure 9, so I am hoping this one will allow me to, plus I like the tripod holder setup (a lacking feature in the AW200 and Tamrac Adventure 9).

The sling bag is neat, but just a bit too limited for me, and I don't find it to be the most comfortable setup.

Yeah one evening of walking around with the sling with only my D3 and 70-200 and a 24mm and I felt in my back the next day. I wasnt using the side straps either.

Upon closer inspection...I guess I missed them during my initial looking, there are some backpack design with the sideopen...similar to the sling. Only downside is no AW cover, not that Ive ever really needed one.

I think I briefly mentioned the fastpack series in your bag thread. I am still considering picking up the fastpack 250, as it would be nice to have something to hold a laptop when I go on vacation, not just out shooting. Plus the top section looks bigger and more useful, and you can always buy a backpack cover if you really need the AW.

I just don't like how it looks. but AFAIK, lowepro doesn't really have any competition in the 'side entry, two strap, backpack' line.

I have been wanting to buy a Think Tank "Glass Taxi" but at $150, just couldn't pull the trigger.

Everyone is buying cool stuff, while I just needed to buy a charger.

FWIW, it's a Delkin Dual Charger with 2 BP-511 attachments. It charges both batteries at the same time and it has a car adapter.

Though, I wouldn't have bought it if I could find my wall charger and wasn't in a hurry this morning. :tomato:

It was a close call! I just had to base it on what I shoot the most. I do wish it had that 2.8...damn compromises. ;)

Congrats!!
