Post your Macro shots
I'm itchin' for a macro lens too. Here's one of my first attempts at a macro shot. This is a jumping spider (about the size of a ballpoint pen tip). It was taken with a zoom lens, no tripod, and the thing jumped right at me about 30 seconds later:

^ The 70-200 f/4. Love it. I found that I was using the macro for it's focal length and not for macro work. In the future I will pick up another macro, but while I'm in college (ie. eating raemen noodles almost everyday
) I can't afford to have both.

All the more reason to upgrade to a FF - I'll have to sell my EF-S lenses....
You know, that isn't the first time I've heard that about the EF-S 60mm. Over on POTN (photography-on-the.net) I have read more than a couple posts regarding it as one of Canon's sharpest lenses.
You said it, I have been drooling over the 5D for a long time. I have even had it in my B&H shopping cart ready to press buy, but snapped out of it and realized that it would end up costing me like $5000 lol.

Yeah, it hasn't even made it onto my wishlist, yet. Unfortunately, I think the MBP & PS are my last big purchases for a little while. I'm thinking that for the next year, all my spare change will be going toward getting the house ready to rent out.
Damn, I covet that camera, though!

Damn, I covet that camera, though! On photoshop, i just tried to install it. I couldn't remember my password, so I tried reset by install OS X disc. Then I remember, that I cannabilized two p/w for a new one. Man I forgot how much different (easier) Macs work, even when I mess up. So now I'll wait until tomorrow to get started again.

Nothing terribly special, but I took it on a whim after waking up (on my own) at 5-something on a Sunday morning. Combine that with less than 10 minutes of work in PS and I'm kind of liking the way it came out.
Here's a pic I took today while messing with macro mode on my new Canon 850 IS. Pretty good for a point and shoot but I'm wondering how detailed can you get with a point and shoot camera. Any tips for focusing in on really really tiny details?
Lighting macro shots has always been a challenge for me, so I'm making an effort to practice whenever I can. Here are a couple from this weekend:

I will be practicing with different materials and a variety of lights over the coming weeks, so I'll update the thread as I have something new to share.

Chocolate covered cicadas are the best.
I think you've finally hit on something I won't eat, even if covered in chocolate.

both of them!! The lighting, especially.
