Post your Macro shots

I've always enjoyed viewing macro shots, the texture, colors, and detail all are fascinating to me. So let's see some of yours! I can't post a macro yet, but I just ordered a Canon 100mm f/2.8 Macro! I'm so excited!

You know I was just walking by a neighbors house, they had some purple flowers. I thought what a great chance to break out my 100mm 2.8. If the clouds go bye bye I'll give it a shot.

Just out of curiosity, how are we defining macro here? Ultra close-up, or just relatively close? I have some flower shots, but they're not framed particularly tightly.

I've already posted a number of these before, but since I like macros, here they are again.

I still think that first spiral one is seriously sweet. I have yet to try the technique you described. I love the water drops, too.

Here's a couple from my last book. The first three show a 1/72 scale model, the toothpick gives an idea of the size. The model is approximately 4" long.

The last pic shows a similarly sized 1/72 scale tank next to the same type of tank, but in 1/35 scale.

Still using my coolpix 995 for these.

Yep, the book is exactly that, how to build them :-)

Modelling Books

Plastic models is what got me interested in macro photography; for me, they are hobbies that really go well together.

I would like to try some of the amazing nature photos seen in the previous posts.

From my garden this morning...
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/moxiephotos/542575401/" title="Photo Sharing"><img src="http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1194/542575401_ddcc8247f8_b.jpg" width="1024" height="683" alt="platycodondetail.jpg" /></a>

I liked how the light hitting in different ways offered such a wide spectrum of blues.

^ Awesome -- the middle shot sparks the imagination.

And I'm digging how the water distorts/interacts with the texture on wndrlst's garden pic.

The Life and Times of a Cicada

Every 17 years, they come out of the ground as larva and crawl up tree trunks. Just emerged from the larva:

Their wings straighten out and their shell dries. This one is still drying.

Lookin' for love. They live for 3 weeks, mate, lay eggs, and die.

Nice shots!! I never looked at them very closely when we got invaded 2 summers ago. Kind of cool to see them when they're not dive-bombing.
