srika I really like the finish on those shots, are they camera set or processed? the colors look lightly desaturated with bright whites, looks cool. skin tones are nice too, and you really grabbed the energy from the moment, beautiful

Great photos everyone.

Bought a SB910 on saturday and tested it out. Love it! I like bouncing the light off the ceiling and seeing what happens.

thanks..the first time we tried this was at the beach..this time we found a huge empty industrial area with an abandoned warehouse..
this was the place..i shot the above pic with the guy spinning the steel wool in between those yellow poles on the left side of the warehouse...
it's a pretty sweet location for just about any type of shoots..we're trying to figure out how we can get in the warehouse..there's a small plane in there...

there's a bunch of things in that area...unfortunately that rig is no longer there..but..if you look towards the back right side of that warehouse pic..there's a, what appears to be an old ferry type boat that they never finished building...it's pretty big..we shot in/on there too..

from what Ive read: stuff the steel wool into a wire whisk, attach a rope to the end of the whisk for twirling. I think you can light it with a lighter, Ive also heard that a 9 volt battery will light it faster. Once its burning, twirl away.

Yes, but it's better to use a chain, not rope. I carry steel wool, a lighter and a fire extinguisher, in my night photo bag, but haven't found a place to do it yet.

except we used a steel cable...to be honest..it doesn't spark that much..it just looks like that in the final results cause it's a long exposure...i used to think that sparks were flying crazy everywhere when i first saw this type of pic...

It can still fly pretty good, you have to make sure your equipment is not close. I've seen where sparks land people's front elements.

One time we had parts of the burning steel wool stick to the walls in an abandoned tunnel we were in - it turns out whatever the walls were coated in was apparently flamable since peeling paint chips started to burn. It was weird. And neat.
