At Lost Dutchman State Park in Apache Junction, AZ. My gf and I hiked a trail called Syphon Draw - Flat Iron on Sunday and on the way back we spotted this guy. We also saw one the first time we hiked this trail. It's an Eastern Collard Lizard.

Here are a couple of my nephew. I think I went a little overboard with the DoF, though. Shot with 30D and 50/1.8.

It was in LA, it was a indoor exhibit. Basically, thousands of strands of LED's hanging from the ceiling, you can walk up and down the aisles, it was freaky, made you feel like there was no floor. I snapped 2 or 3 pics and the guard made me put it away . If you look close, you can see a person in there somewhere. Pretty cool exhibit

love that lizard!

due to the arrangement of the colors, this picture has a sort of 3-dimensional look to it, and its one of my fav's.

Some really nice shots, deke.

I'm with srika, you're either a photojournalist, have some ties to the Fire Department, or just happen to be in places at the right time and blend into the background enough to not get kicked out of a scene

Guess thats kind of a dumb question, in retrospect. Last time I checked, the FD doesn't let random people with cameras into buildings with them while they are fighting fires.. :P

looking at some of the pictures I took today, the 70-300mm IS USM can actually be pretty darn sharp in the right lighting

I can't wait to use it when i goto Formula D tomorrow, and a friend of mine might be able to get me a press pass

I really like those colors srika! I agree about the dimensionality of the shot. I think the layering of fabrics helps, too. Nice!

Deke, good stuff! I especially like the 6th shot of the pouring gravel (or something). Really nice light.

All the fire shots are from training... but we do have an embedded photo guy who comes when he can to calls to shoot for us. Really good for investigations and seeing mistakes so they dont happen again.
